Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

We will be switching things up a bit tomorrow.
3 FP+ at DHS tomorrow - 1st @ 9:20, last @12:50.

We told the kids we would come back here, enjoy a nice leisurely lunch at Pepper Market, swim at our gorgeous pool, and then shower/nap/relax until early evening. Back to Epcot for their ADR @ Chefs while Mike and have a CS meal somewhere in World Showcase.

They did get to swim tonight while we went and got water and GatorAde from Publix. Little scary for us seeing armed guards patrolling outside a grocery store. Stuff like that is uncommon up here.

Armed guards? Did something happen?

No, I think it's just a thing. Show your colours - no troubles. I don't know if it's the economy or what, but the area just outside the Disney bubble is getting sketchier and sketchier.

Back when the kids were littler and money was tight, we used to stay off-site, along 192-West Irlo Bronson, near Old Town. We used to think nothing of walking a dozen blocks to go get dinner, or ice cream. No big deal.
The last couple of years - no way!

There were rowdie, aggressive teens/young adults just acting all "look at me, I'm a bad-a$$" near the front of the store, scary dudes laying in the boulevard in front of Walgreens across the road, playing pass the bottle.

Not very magical, but maybe just a Saturday night at 10:00 thing. Dunno.

Are you keeping your wierdunique sleeping hours on vacation?

I'm the only early morning person in my family. At AKL I left the room around 6 every morning and took a shower at the fitness center so I wouldn't wake anyone up.
Considerate you are.
We showered last night. Felt like a brand new person.

Jennifer - you're so right about that area on 192 around OldTown. Even in the winter it's pretty tough at night. Where we stay is down towards Poinciana - still quite rural but only minutes from the parks.

Okay, last up for tonight - dinner pics and observations from the Garden Grill.
I can't seem to get pics to load, so I will do what @PUSH did, and just edit them in later.

I requested a lower level booth seat, and we had to wait a half an hour for it.

From the time we were seated, it was 20 minutes before our drinks were served.

And then another 20 before bread and salad were delivered.

Then another 20 minutes before the main good was brought out. Everything was lovely, especially the turkey/stuffing, the mac 'n cheese, and the salad.

We had seconds delivered of the salad, fish, turkey, and pasta.

Our ADR was for 6:55. We checked in at 6:45. At 9:05, our server was just getting around to suggesting dessert, which we all decided to forego.

The character interaction was outstanding, the food was good, but our server was inattentive, and very slow to deliver. :(

I would definitely go back, but perhaps on a much less busy night.

That is absurdly slow. I would have been twitching.

Did it spin?

That was our experience last December and at that time it wasn't horribly crowded. We had been doing Garden Grill as our first meal every trip. We'd fly in, throw stuff in the room if it was ready, or in a backpack and head off to EPCOT. Hit some of the pavilions, do dinner, Illuminations, and relatively early to bed to catch up on sleep so we can hit the next day running. We missed getting a decent spot for Illuminations last year because it too so long to cycle through the Grill. I think we had 6:05 reservations and got out just before 9. There were only 2 of us and quite a huge amount of downtime beween server visits. The characters visited us more than our server. We're definitely making a change this year!
