See, holiday long weekends are pretty much the same, both sides of the Border.
My favorite thing about September is the perfect weather for sitting around a fire. I found a table top sized one for the deck since it was all I have room for. It is too humid right now to sit around fire.

Right now it is tiki torch and citronella candle season.

It's 57 F, as I type. Definitely needed a jacket.
I was going to make a tea and sit out some more, but the June-bugs are crazy right now. They seem to love dive-bombing my head and getting stuck in my hair. Sooooooo gross.

This disgusting, buzzing, albeit totally harmless creature is a June-bug. Technically some or other kind of beetle.

Need to build screens around the pergola. My mom's neighbor has a screened in gazebo and I always thought it looked like such a relaxing place to unwind at night.

June-bugs will be gone in another week or so. They have a pretty short life span. :)

We call those beetles, and they have another version that is black and iridescent green we call a Japanese beetle. Not sure either of those names are accurate. When I was little we had a Japanese beetle infestation on Long Island and they were EVERYWHERE dive bombing our heads and getting stuck in our hair. I found 4 in my bed one night and it started off a compulsion where I had to pull back the covers and check my bed for bugs that lasted for around 20 years.

We have a screened in porch. It's attached to the house but the other 3 sides have windows and a sliding glass door to the outside. It also has a ceiling fan. In about a month we will eat dinner in there every night through September.

We get June bugs here too, but not til June, and not so many... I remember there being a lot more of them when I was a kid.

We get those too, but not as bad anymore. When I was a kid we used to have to pick them off the plants in the garden and drop them into a paint bucket that had about an inch of gasoline in it.

We have a screened in gazebo tent thing kind of like this

The frame stays up year round but we take the canvas down in the fall. We love eating out there - no bugs!

Ours is similar, but it's usually too hot and humid here to use it much in the summer. The cats love it. They use the doggie door to go out there whenever they want.
