There's a unique culture within the SEC. I think it's somewhat created by certain states not having a professional football team in it. But yes, the NIL has been awful. There needs to be a cap on spending money. There needs to be a limit or stipulations to the amount of times a player can transfer.
I should also add that being a Packers fan in Wisconsin is an entirely different culture than most professional sport teams. It's much more "small town" if that makes sense, but it feels like a deeper pride than a team from, say, LA would be. The identity of LA is not their teams. Green Bay, and Wisconsin to an extent, has such a deep identity with the Packers.

Yep indeed, and college football is by far my fave over the NFL…!!!
I never understood the appeal of college sports. Probably because my school was never good at it. Though my sister on the other hand still follows UCONN men's and women's basketball.

Different strokes, as they say. But, although I do watch a little college baseball, other than football, I’m not really into college sports very much.
Basketball, on any level, just bores me to tears.
Maybe ‘cause I only ever got to 5’-10”, and I had friends in elementary school who were already at about 6’ tall before we even got into junior high.
But, I truly did admire Spud Webb, at 5’-7”, back in the day winning a slam dunk contest and all…!!!
I played “street” football, organized baseball and was a first string starter on our varsity soccer team my junior and senior years of high school, so there’s that. I loved playing the game. Even so, I watch almost no soccer these days.
My two younger bros and lil’ sis are much more into sports than I am.

Hey, to be fair, it’s a pretty big country, with at least…….48 states…???!!!!!
No heading to Disney World this summer for us though, we’re all headin’ to that Europe country…!!!!!
I saw Wicked: For Good tonight. I liked it, but the first part was better. I felt the same way about the musical, though, too. The first act was better than the second act. I did feel like they added some unnecessary parts to the movie, but I think they probably felt like they had to in order to make the second act into a feature length film. The two original songs were kind of "meh" in my opinion. I felt like the second half of this movie was better than the first.
No Good Deed was amazing, as I expected it to be. Cynthia Erivo is amazing.

I watched it on Friday. Enjoyed it and as I have not seen the original musical have nothing to compare it too!
But would happily watch both parts of the movie again.

I saw it on Thursday and felt that the first part was better too. I think they should have just made it one movie, but then I guess they wouldn't have made as much money on it. I think that both leads did a great job though.
They could have made it one movie, but it would have been really long. I also think there's something for ending the first part after Defying Gravity. I can't imagine just continuing on directly after. In the musical there's the intermission.
That said, the first part definitely had some areas that I thought could have been cut down. The Defying Gravity scene had so much fluff. We would just get into the song, and then they would cut the music and lose the momentum, especially in the part where Elphaba falls off the tower. The song was just reaching the climax, and it cuts out. They probably could have cut at least 20 minutes and made it more enjoyable.
The second part had even more fluff. It's the shorter of the two acts in the musical, and the movie probably doubles the length. The second part seemed "choppier", but that's how the musical is, too. But again, I liked both films.
I agree that both leads were fantastic. I was really skeptical of Ariana Grande, but she was great. The director did not want to cast her because of how famous she was. They did not want to cast a superstar. She had to go through far more auditions than other actors, and the director was almost trying to find reasons not to give her the part. But she did so well, they had to.

So, yesterday was Carolyn’s Mother’s side of the family annual family reunion/Thanksgiving celebration.
Not quite as many were there this year as last year, but last year was gang busters compared to recent years, due to things like Covid, those away at college, etc.
So, still a very good turnout…!!!
We (Carolyn, Matthew, Sarah and myself), along with one of Carolyn’s aunts and a cousin, got there about 9:50a to start setting up (tables, tablecloths, chairs, etc.). Carolyn has volunteered to take charge of much of the festivities in recent years. The memorial table pictures, name tags, decorations, etc….!!!
Anyway, a pic below of the guest book, change of info and donations table…hey, the hall rental costs money, as well as other things involved in this production…!!!
Sarah and Megan putting the name tags on that table…yes, there are that many family members, although they, obviously, don’t all show up, for various reasons. We try to get everyone to RSVP, but sometimes they don’t, so we just make tags for everyone still with us…!!!

The second pic shows the patriarch and matriarch of the family at the far left, and my MIL, Shirley, at the far right.
And yes, grandpa Schmidt had quite the honker of a schnoz on him…!!!!!

The food, including the kitchen bar counter, and the dessert table…pics taken after the major stampede…JK, LOL and all that jazz…!!!!!
My plate of a tamale, sliced ham, sliced sausage, Brussels sprouts, white and dark meat turkey, spinach casserole, cheesy potatoes, sauerkraut, green bean casserole and corn casserole…!!!!!
No pics of desserts, as I was so stuffed my dessert plate was paltry, but I had small servings of a cranberry, apple, oatmeal crumble dish, along with some tapioca pudding, pecan pie and a small piece of peanut brittle…!!!!!
After we ate, there were more festivities…!!!
A family trivia contest that is always a hoot, family updates and announcements, a closing prayer (we also always have an opening prayer in English along with The Lords Prayer in German), and a closing hymn.
Then…cleanup and takedown, which I always participate in (as well as the previously mentioned setup).
But, by then, I had to make a quick visit to the men’s room, which lasted maybe 3 minutes, and the vast majority of it was already done when I walked out…!!!!!
Biased, and blessed I am, indeed, but…
Our families are, simply, the best…!!!!!!!
