Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Baloo is our old friend from Pigeon Forge. I believe you’ve followed some of my trip reports - he’s the meanie who always whoops my butt at mini putt.

New name … one of the original Sageteers, predating all but a handful of us.

Also, are you okay after your tumble? 1967 is almost vintage. We’re getting fragile.
I am new to the Saget by a few years. Yes I have followed you for many and knew who he was.

Like us, my cousin is also downsizing and packing up to move. She keeps sending me old pics. Here’s a really old one. As near as we can figure, I’m 8 and she’s 11 in this one.

Before cell phones and selfies, we had to get on a bus and go to the mall and crowd into photo booths.
wow you look so much alike. I am guessing you are right?

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

So if you were 8 , did they not have colour photos in Cananananananada in 2010 ? 😯

A real quick hello from a certain inn keeper in the hills of Tennessee. Had been staying out of the Disney loop for a LONG time, decided to jump back in and catch up with a lot of things. Wow, a lot to wrap my mind around with changes big and small. Anyhow, decided I am fully just out of it all, and can't go back. BUT, before leaving again and hopefully permanently, I wanted to say a quick word to you all since so many of you gave me fond memories here.

First off, a big belated HAPPY 2025 to you here in the Sageteer thread and belated MERRY CHRISTMAS as well. Hope you had great ones of each, and hope life has been treating you good.
@Goofyernmost , starting with you, my closest neighbor over in North Carolina. I thought of you when that horrible hurricane went through both our states, doing tremendous damage. Peeked here on this thread to make sure you were okay, and saw you posting that you were. Glad you were not impacted by that terrible mess. Also thought of you when I took my father up to Michigan in September for a Vietnam veterans reunion. What a great time meeting so many heroes. Thank you and others like you for your service.
@MinnieM123 , who I know loves snow and winter as I do. What a week it's been! We still have around 2-inches on the ground. Came in strong Friday afternoon but melting quickly. Stay safe and hope you enjoy winter while it lasts. Always a beautiful sight to see when it snows reasonably.
@PUSH , @ajrwdwgirl , and any other educators, hope the school year is going well so far. My little sister is on her 10th year teaching, and I feel old just thinking about that!
@NYwdwfan , not really sure what to think about how our Braves - Mets divisional rivalry ended last season, but WOW. Craziness, more craziness, and you guys certainly proved to be the strongest force moving forward. Congrats on Soto, don't let Alonso slip away, and we'll be back to fight again with ya this spring.
@trr1 , I know you and your family love Universal and are probably hyped about Epic opening in a few months. I am too, hope you guys get to head back down that way soon. I plan to in a few years. Letting the dust settle first.
It's not letting me tag anymore names, so everyone else please stay safe and have the best new year possible. As for me, I am working on health, and (this may be a shock) getting active with church, but for my father. I take him frequently, and perhaps has done me good too. Still an inn keeper and doing good, but with snow currently.

And to the family of Lucky, I know he is so proud of nephew Landon a.k.a. WORLD SERIES CHAMPION! What a great season last year. Looking forward to what the future holds.

Last but never least, Nemo14. Always missed. Like a mother. Like family. Such great memories exploring the mountains with you and your husband. The legacy of joy that you, Lucky, unkadug, who all we lost will never be lost.

Love ya guys!
So nice to hear from you, as you were MISSED!

Glad to read that you're still an inn keeper. Also, happy that you and your dad get together frequently.

Plus, having SNOW in your area is great! (Please note, always be more careful after a storm, as things have a way of freezing up overnight -- you can't always see it, but black ice hides. Sorry to hear that you fell. Ice melt (for steps, walkways, etc.) is my friend up here during the winter.)

Lastly, it goes without saying, that you're always welcome to visit the Sagateers here. Please do! 🥰

Thanks for saying hi! I was thinking about you not too long ago and how you were doing. If you wanted to stick around, we wouldn't oppose. 😉

This is us a few years ago.

Her mom on the left (whom you know as my beloved Auntie), and my mom on the right.

Auntie was the keeper of all pics, so my cousin inherited them when she passed. She also sent me this pic. This was probably early 88, so I was still 20.IMG_9650.jpeg

Hope you decide to pop in instead of leaving. It’s ok if you aren’t in the Disney loop anymore, good company and conversation here is fine too.

And as for my school year, could be better and could be worse. 🤓

Thanks for checking in, but please don't be a stranger. We seem to cover a whole lot of topics not related to Disney. In fact, I went to Dollywood last May where I joined up with my daughter, son in law, and three of my grandkids. (Also visiting there) Had a great time. Hadn't been to Pigeon Forge in about 12 years. Good thing I went when I did as getting there, though not impossible, has a few detours in it now. Good health and happiness always, my friend.

Piece of advice...don't ever offer to be the one who accepts all the photos and puts together slideshow for memorial service.

It leads to judginess when the "birth family" and the "married into family" (that's the best way I can think to describe them, I'm open to better definitions) seem to be having a contest as to who can have the most photos featuring their side.

I'm going to have to exercise all my self-control to not get into it with my SIL tomorrow. She sent "13 additional photos" at 11 pm the night before the wake. Most of them were just bad photos (pic of the deceased with his cousin at her middle child's communion, and the cousin looks like he has a lazy eye--that guy's going to attend the wake, I'm not going to include a pic of him looking terrible).

There were already 100 photos in the slideshow, I didn't need any more. Not at nearly bedtime, before what will be a very stressful day for my beloved. But she had to make sure that each of her three children were represented!!

OK, rant over. Thanks for listening. ;)
So sorry for your loss! Thank you for being the one to take on memorialize your family member. I'm sure you will be fair (and considerate) all while showcasing the family member who has passed on.

You know me quite well, my friend. However, last night was a multi-step cooking process. (Granted, this is rare.)

I had to pan fry some small pieces of chicken. Then, I had to open a jar of sauce (Tikka Masala) and pour over chicken, simmering for about 10 minutes. But I was not done yet! :jawdrop: Had to put 2 single-serve plastic cups of (precooked) basmati "Minute" rice in the microwave, for 1 minute. Still not finished cooking yet! 😳 The last step was to dump the rice on to 2 plates, and then pour the chicken and sauce mix over both. FINALLY, dinner was ready. I was exhausted, but worth it for a gourmet meal.

I think you should get the rest of the week off from cooking! How exhausting!!

My boys both call me every day. Ski and I often have very lengthy conversations of an hour or more. (I'd say he needs to get a GF, but he has one! The same one for 11 years.)

Anyway, we were talking yesterday about his scheduled date for vacating the house. Looks like Friday.

Me: I feel like such an awful parent for booting you out.
Ski: Ma, all my friends got booted out. Ry's parents booted him out. Keough's parents booted him and his brother out at the same time. Dad's [nickname] parents booted him out. Alex' parents couldn't wait to boot him out. And if Gerv hadn't knocked up his girlfriend and had to move in with her, his parents were booting him out too.

Ski: Besides, you're not booting me out. You're selling the only house I've ever really known out from under me and leaving me homeless. Feel better?

Yeah tons! Sigh.

I know it's tough, but your job wasn't to supply things indefinitely. There comes a time to launch and by doing so you are doing him a favor. He may not see it that way, but no one ever said that parenting is an easy job. It is pretty well known that babies are a lot of work, but the hard work comes many years later when it becomes clear how difficult it is to cut the umbilical cord.

And like you said, that struck me as something I might have said, so I knew it wasn't said to harm you.

I wanted to shoot some nice words yours and Mikes way, but was afraid y'all hated my guts. Where'd ya go after our last cornbread munchin' sports talkin' good time at the Old Mill??? Miss you guys, and if I annoyed the heck out of you that last visit (which I am prone to being annoying as an art), I do apologize. Hope all is going well for you and family.

Edit: And to all the new faces and folks not mentioned earlier... CHEERS and happy 2025.

Thanks, and CHEERS to you, as well, regarding the New Year wishes…!!! :)

The cost of housing is prohibitive in Canada. Yeah, yeah, it’s expensive everywhere, but it’s stupid expensive up here. Rent too, by extension.

An entry level townhouse outside the GTA is more than $600K. A million or more inside the GTA.

Way up here in (almost) no man’s land, we are paying $2460 monthly for a <700 sq ft 2bed/1 bath apartment.

It’s not so much “failure to launch”, but more “if you didn’t buy before the COVID boom, you may never be able to afford to buy”.

This generation is resigned to being renters for the rest of their lives. Canada’s banks have very stringent lending criteria, exacerbated by the gov’t mandated “lending stress test”.
