Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

True dat.

Almost finished taking ours down, started a couple days ago, but the tree came down today.

Thank goodness we didn't put up ALL our Christmas decorations this year. Close family member went to hospice on New Years Day and passed on the 8th. So we did the bare minimum, just one tree instead of all seven.

So very sorry to hear that.
My sincerest condolences to your family, and to everyone that loved your family member.

Piece of advice...don't ever offer to be the one who accepts all the photos and puts together slideshow for memorial service.

It leads to judginess when the "birth family" and the "married into family" (that's the best way I can think to describe them, I'm open to better definitions) seem to be having a contest as to who can have the most photos featuring their side.

I'm going to have to exercise all my self-control to not get into it with my SIL tomorrow. She sent "13 additional photos" at 11 pm the night before the wake. Most of them were just bad photos (pic of the deceased with his cousin at her middle child's communion, and the cousin looks like he has a lazy eye--that guy's going to attend the wake, I'm not going to include a pic of him looking terrible).

There were already 100 photos in the slideshow, I didn't need any more. Not at nearly bedtime, before what will be a very stressful day for my beloved. But she had to make sure that each of her three children were represented!!

OK, rant over. Thanks for listening. ;)

Carolyn (DWifey) was in charge of that for her mother’s memorial service in late August.
She sent out emails 2 weeks in advance, asking anyone that wanted pictures in a tribute slideshow to send them ASAP.
We already had tons of photos of Carolyn and myself, our kids and granddaughters with her. Plus, as she lived with us until she passed, we also had a lot of picks from her life and times.
Some sent a few, but the vast majority of them that were of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were from our family. We were definitely around her more than the others over the years, but we thought we’d get more from other family members.
So, we kinda’ had the opposite problem.
SonIL took care of setting it all up, and there were no ruffled feathers that I know of.
Carolyn tried to be as judicious as possible, but she only had so much to work with, besides our pics.
Hey, they all had 2 weeks, and either didn’t have many or just never sent them.
It turned out to be a very nice tribute, though…!!! :)

Just checked the sales list for yesterday. As of 4:50 AM today, the "Bid Goes On" starting at 700,000 or higher (as they don't list the open bids once the vehicle leaves the camera view). The continued bidding goes on behind the scenes with the vetted bidders. So, I'll be checking today and/or through the week, to see what price it sells for. Anyway, link below with deets and awesome photos.

Thanks for the link/info, Minnie…!!! :)
As per usual, I’m glad to see that it was restored back to original specs. (or as close as possible)…!!! :geek:
Also cool that out of the 1,935 Superbirds produced in 1970, only 135 came with the 426 c.i./425 hp hemi, and only 1 of 58 with a manual 4-on-the-floor tranny.
I remember that was kinda’ a thing back then, with manufacturers sometimes matching or coming close to matching the c.i. displacement with the hp number.
And, only 28 miles on the odometer, since restoration.
Just a beautiful ride…!!! :)

Hubs was blown away to read about the 135 with the 426 c.i./425 hp HEMI, plus the 4-on-the-floor tranny. Said he never knew that, and he knows a ton about cars from that era. Well, that's it, until next weekend!

Yep, the only 2 other engine options for the Superbird that model year were the 440 with a six pack (390 hp), and the 440 with a 4 bbl. carb (375 hp)…!!! :)
Yes indeed, more auction fun next weekend…!!! :geek:

Just noticed something. When I was 10 my dad had a brand new 1958 Buick. This is what the front end of it looked... It was his first new car and in my mind one of the best looking Buicks they made. It was a tank, for sure. Not a convertible. It had so many perks like a ribbon style speedometer, dual headlights, Dynaflow transmission and the Buick Engine which had a sound when running that was different than all the rest of cars on the road. You could hear it coming and know it was a Buick. We all loved this car, but he had an illness called Newcaritise so he traded it for the slanted headlights and ugly looking, completely unreliable 1959 Buick Station wagon. What a piece of junk that was thus prompting him to buy a new 1961 Buick as soon as they became available. He broke his stride by having to skip a year, but once in a while one has to keep the wife happy.

Just below is a 1958 Cadillac. Except for a few detail it appears that they borrow a lot of design between the GM Brands.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
A real quick hello from a certain inn keeper in the hills of Tennessee. Had been staying out of the Disney loop for a LONG time, decided to jump back in and catch up with a lot of things. Wow, a lot to wrap my mind around with changes big and small. Anyhow, decided I am fully just out of it all, and can't go back. BUT, before leaving again and hopefully permanently, I wanted to say a quick word to you all since so many of you gave me fond memories here.

First off, a big belated HAPPY 2025 to you here in the Sageteer thread and belated MERRY CHRISTMAS as well. Hope you had great ones of each, and hope life has been treating you good.
@Goofyernmost , starting with you, my closest neighbor over in North Carolina. I thought of you when that horrible hurricane went through both our states, doing tremendous damage. Peeked here on this thread to make sure you were okay, and saw you posting that you were. Glad you were not impacted by that terrible mess. Also thought of you when I took my father up to Michigan in September for a Vietnam veterans reunion. What a great time meeting so many heroes. Thank you and others like you for your service.
@MinnieM123 , who I know loves snow and winter as I do. What a week it's been! We still have around 2-inches on the ground. Came in strong Friday afternoon but melting quickly. Stay safe and hope you enjoy winter while it lasts. Always a beautiful sight to see when it snows reasonably.
@PUSH , @ajrwdwgirl , and any other educators, hope the school year is going well so far. My little sister is on her 10th year teaching, and I feel old just thinking about that!
@NYwdwfan , not really sure what to think about how our Braves - Mets divisional rivalry ended last season, but WOW. Craziness, more craziness, and you guys certainly proved to be the strongest force moving forward. Congrats on Soto, don't let Alonso slip away, and we'll be back to fight again with ya this spring.
@trr1 , I know you and your family love Universal and are probably hyped about Epic opening in a few months. I am too, hope you guys get to head back down that way soon. I plan to in a few years. Letting the dust settle first.
It's not letting me tag anymore names, so everyone else please stay safe and have the best new year possible. As for me, I am working on health, and (this may be a shock) getting active with church, but for my father. I take him frequently, and perhaps has done me good too. Still an inn keeper and doing good, but with snow currently.

And to the family of Lucky, I know he is so proud of nephew Landon a.k.a. WORLD SERIES CHAMPION! What a great season last year. Looking forward to what the future holds.

Last but never least, Nemo14. Always missed. Like a mother. Like family. Such great memories exploring the mountains with you and your husband. The legacy of joy that you, Lucky, unkadug, who all we lost will never be lost.

Love ya guys!
Orrrr, you know … you could just stay a while.

Or permanently.

I wanted to shoot some nice words yours and Mikes way, but was afraid y'all hated my guts. Where'd ya go after our last cornbread munchin' sports talkin' good time at the Old Mill??? Miss you guys, and if I annoyed the heck out of you that last visit (which I am prone to being annoying as an art), I do apologize. Hope all is going well for you and family.

Edit: And to all the new faces and folks not mentioned earlier... CHEERS and happy 2025.
Nice to meet you neighbor.

Nice to meet you! Getting any snow in your part of TN?
We got about 7. We are just south of Nashville. Driveway has melted but when I took out the trash tonight I slipped and fell on my ***. Everything has frozen back up. Pretty sure you are in a bit northwest of us. Stick around. We don't bite. 90% of our talk in this chat is non Disney. Just us living our lives and I have no doubt you have some stories. At any rate, nice to meet you, and we will be heading your way in May.

Baloo is our old friend from Pigeon Forge. I believe you’ve followed some of my trip reports - he’s the meanie who always whoops my butt at mini putt.

New name … one of the original Sageteers, predating all but a handful of us.

Also, are you okay after your tumble? 1967 is almost vintage. We’re getting fragile.

Like us, my cousin is also downsizing and packing up to move. She keeps sending me old pics. Here’s a really old one. As near as we can figure, I’m 8 and she’s 11 in this one.

Before cell phones and selfies, we had to get on a bus and go to the mall and crowd into photo booths.
