I was thinking Tremors...

That may have been the movie I was thinking of. Whichever one had the little monsters that bounce & roll around like balls or tumbleweeds, but they eat people (?) I saw it when I was little, which probably wasn't a smart thing to do. (It gave a whole new level of fear to the game of dodgeball at school. )

The town I live in keeps their lights up through the end of February. They make it a season-long festival.

Depending on how enthusiastic I feel about taking down my tree at the apartment, it usually comes down somewhere between Martin Luther King weekend & the very last of Jan.

I am stubborn in admitting that Christmas is finally over.

I'm hoping to have it out before MLK weekend. Will probably bring the boxes down at the end of next week to start packing up ornaments.

Not until after Ukrainian (Orthodox) Christmas.

Some years, not until February.
One year, not until March.

Clearly, we have an artificial tree.

The night before the town says it's coming to pick up trees. They come one week in January and if it's not out there it site until February.

The funny thing is the first tree down was the artificial. The live tree is still up in the living room but will probably come down over next week. Some years we're completely into having the trees up as long as possible but this year we're looking to get the room back.

I cut out the middle man and never put one up. Quite the little time saver.

I just got a bedroom back, and I may be getting 2 1/2 rooms back in my basement, so I'm not in as big a rush as some years.
