Mind....BlownI thought last year's lighting was for this Christmas. So isn't this lighting for 2016?
I love Christmas, too. Before Halloween is a little much, but starting Nov 1 it's Christmas season as far as I'm concerned. I don't overlook Thanksgiving, though, it just happens to fall in Christmas season.I can't wait for Christmas time. My year revolves around Christmas. Everyone thinks I'm crazy but come the first of November it's nothing but Christmas music for me.
I think your brother may have forgotten.Thanksgiving for us is this Monday, so we don't associate the two holidays like you guys do.
The general feeling up here is - no blatant Christmas stuff until after Remembrance Day (11/11), and then have at it!!!
He doesn't care.I think your brother may have forgotten.
For me it's Halloween first, then Christmas stuff starting sometime in mid-November. I don't think Thanksgiving should be a holiday, but rather a daily mindset of gratitude for family, friends, and all the good stuff we have. It shouldn't take a national day of celebration to remind us to give thanks. So no offense Mr. Turkey, but I will be singing 'Jingle Bells' long before November 26th rolls around.
Now as far as the feasting with family & loved ones go, sure that can be a special holiday every late November. But that can be intertwined with the Christmas season, and leave the Thanksgiving part of it out, as that is better suited as a daily state of mind.
And if someone says we need that one day to reflect on the first Thanksgiving with the pilgrims & the Indians....baloney. Considering how we gave the Indians the royal screw shortly thereafter, there's not much to reflect on other than we were nice to one another...for a moment.
So yeah. Christmas can start anytime in November that it wants to. Thanksgiving needs to not be a holiday, but a daily mindset of gratitude. And the holiday that we call Thanksgiving should be renamed FFF Day (Food, family, & football).
It may sound crazy, but it's just how my mind works.
Now I'm off to bed. Tomorrow is a brand new day...so give thanks!
Stupid auto-correct!The word is "creepity".
Can we all have that mindset every day and have a 4 day weekend in November that includes a massive feast? For me it's Halloween first, then Christmas stuff starting sometime in mid-November. On the PBS version of Clifford the Big Red Dog they just call it the "Fall Feast." I assume because of the religious origins of Thanksgiving. Can we all have that mindset every day and have a 4 day weekend in November that includes a massive feast?
or maybe dogs just don't know...On the PBS version of Clifford the Big Red Dog they just call it the "Fall Feast." I assume because of the religious origins of Thanksgiving.
