Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Avery just got home from work and shared some sad news. The 14 year old son of a co-worker died this morning.
He and his dad were on their Make-a-Wish cruise while we were at Disney.

14 is too young to die from cancer. Damn!

I would assume Avery is telling Ski right now. I'll give him a bit to absorb the news and then I'll have to go see how he is. When James (the dad) had to leave work to be with his son full time, the shop took up a donation to help support him while he was off. Ski just signed over his whole paycheque and then came home and got very angry; tossing things around and swearing.

He may be a jerk sometimes, but he feels things very deeply.

That is beyond awful. One of the hardest things to explain to your child - no matter how old they get - is something you can't understand or reconcile yourself.

A friend of my husband recently lost his son to cancer as well. I'm believe he was 9. No parent should have to say goodbye to their child - especially one that young.

Excuse me while I go hug my kids really tightly and have them look at me like I've done lost my mind.

The pork chops were flavourful, albeit a little tough. Might be why they were on sale.

Hubby is on chop #4; so not too tough for him.

I only had one, but had seconds of salad, and another quarter potato or two. Yum. The perfect no fuss summer supper.

(And yes, I know my food is "touching". You should have seen it after I smushed it together.)

Joel was diagnosed this time last year with some kind of cancer in his leg. Through aggressive chemo, they were able to save his leg, but he was rendered sterile. (They knew the treatment would do this, so measures were taken to preserve his ability to have future children.)

He was declared "cancer free"; but as it does, the cancer came back very aggressively approx. 4 months ago. One of the saddest stories I have heard is that he became very paranoid in his final months and could not bear to be separated from his dad - to the point that his dad had to sleep in the same room. James even had to sit outside the bathroom door while Joel was in there, and vice versa.

He passed away peacefully this morning in hospital, with his pain being well managed.

And yeah, when Jordan wakes up ('cause that's what he does when he's upset), I'll sneak up on him for a big hug too.

Well I guess I chose the right day to wear my felt hat that says LGBT.

You have to remember around here we don't have many specialty pizza places. Domino's and Pizza Hut are our two options. And I much prefer Domino's. The best place is Steve's Pizza, which is a local "chain" of two stores around the area. But that's much more expensive.
