Two lone pickles currently reside in a Ziploc sandwich bag because I rinsed out the jar and put it out for our final recycling day on Friday.

All open condiments will be going into the trash. They won’t survive the two plus hours trip to Brantford plus the overnight in the truck. It is what it is.

Yes, when we moved to our new home back at the end of 2023, we strategically tried to finish off as many of our existing foodstuffs as possible before our final trip to the new place. But, the new place was only about 12+ miles away from the old place, so we took any viable “leftovers” with us.
Although, we had takeout pizza that first night…!!!!! :hungry: :hilarious:

Over the past two days, I've been awake, in my home, for two hours. And those two hours were both getting ready for work. I've been so busy with back to school stuff. And I'm exhausted. Of my four inservice days, today is the only day I'm home on time. And guess what I'm doing from home? Working. We went from 0 to 60 real fast. 🙃

After 14 months of wearing a uniform to work, I’ve decided to adapt it a bit and carry it over to the new job.

Collared fitted long sleeve shirts and black dress pants. I had to turn in the logo-embroidered shirts from my last job, so I just ordered six new shirts.

There is nothing better than getting up in the morning and not having to give a single thought to your clothing choices.

Nice…!!! :)
I’ve only worked 2 jobs that required uniforms…a quick (“10 minute”) oil change place back in the mid 80’s, and the Disney Store (both after I was laid off during recessions), although at the Disney Store it was called a “costume”. :cyclops:
At the oil change place we wore black shoes, dark navy slacks and a dark navy long-sleeve shirt with the company logo and our first name on it.
At the Disney store it was black shoes, black slacks and shirts that went from red to tight blue and white gingham to cobalt blue during my tenure there…choice of long or short-sleeve, plus the classic Disney CM name tag.

At the oil change place, long sleeves came in very handy, especially with 2 very popular Nissan models of the day, which we called “burn mobiles”. The Maxima and the 300ZX. They had the 3-liter V-6 engines in them. You got to the oil filter from the top. The engine in the Maxima was transverse mounted (front-wheel drive) and the 300ZX was longitudinally mounted (rear-wheel drive). In the Maxima the exhaust manifold was above the oil filter against the firewall, and in the 300ZX it was same but against the passenger side wheel well. The exhaust manifolds had “heat shields” around them, but didn’t do much good temperature-wise and just made access to the oil filter even tighter.
I worked there during the spring and summer months, so we were sweating our whole shift. You rolled down your sleeve and tried to further protect your arms from the manifold heat with a shop rag or two, but more often than not, it all slipped, exposing your sweaty arm to the manifold heat. You heard the sizzle first, then braced yourself for the pain…!!!!! :in pain::hilarious:
I had burn scars on the inside of my arms for at least 15 years before I could no longer see them. Those weren’t the only offending ;) vehicles, but they were the worst, by far.

Of my 4+ decades in architecture, it was pretty much semi-dress shoes, slacks or jeans, a pullover collared shirt or a button down shirt, both with short sleeves. With the need to do old-school design sketching, in between CAD and 3-D modeling on the computer, so many different colors of ink would have ruined long sleeves in short order. Yes, you can roll up long sleeves, but why even bother in the first place…!!!!! 🤷‍♂️😅😉

Crashing at Mike’s sister’s tonight. We have to go back up. We loaded maybe 75% of the stuff before the 26’ truck was full! Lots of cleaning left to do too. Sigh.

Yes, 62 flights climbed. Beddy-byes time. Good night friends.

Hope y’all slept well…!!! 😴;)
All things considered, especially with how quickly y’all had to make the move, it sounds like things are goin’ pretty well.
As y’all know, it’ll all be over soon enough and y’all can get on with y’all’s new jobs and livin’ life.
Hope y’all have the best day possible…!!! :)

I hated oil change days. I worked at the movie theater. Once a week it was done in case you're wondering.

At the oil change place, the sump had to be cleaned once a month.
On any given day, 2-4 of us worked down below, draining oil, changing oil filters, lubing, etc.
With all the automotive fluids that dripped down on us and the floor below during a month, the sump would be quite a gross mess. Nobody wanted that job, of course, so we flipped a coin(s) to determine the lucky employee…fortunately, I was the lucky winner only once, in the 3.5 months I worked there. What a fun job. :cyclops:
The smell alone was enough to make a billy goat 🐐;) puke…!!!!!🥴:hilarious:

So, I’ve been piddlin’ ‘round in the music store again lately, and I really want to learn to play one of the below…!!! :)

Yes, a mandolin…!!!!!!! :joyfull::hilarious:;)
I’ve always loved the way they sound…!!! 😍:geek:
A potential problem is my “sausage” fingers (even though I’ve lost 20 lbs over the last few months, on purpose), but after testing a few out and reading on the internet, I’m sure, with consistent practice and my heart being in it, I’ll be fine…!!! :)
One post I read was from a guy that said he recently attended a bluegrass festival. He said one band had a mandolin player that was so large he had to be escorted by 2 band mates to 2 folding chairs onstage. He said his fingers were HUGE. But, he also said that he was totally blown away by his playing, and how that player made that mandolin “sing”…!!!
Alternative chord patterns can be learned and used, as well.
Once I get my guitar chops back up, Carolyn has given the OK for me to pursue it…!!!!! :inlove::happy:

I. Am. Exhausted. I was so busy. My brain has literally been thinking about school nonstop since Monday morning. Literally every moment I've been awake. I haven't had a moment to do anything else. But inservice is now complete. I have off until Tuesday, when kids start. I may go up on Monday if I need to prep stuff for the first day, but I have to plan that out first. I have not been able to plan for a single thing for the first week.

I should add that part of my tiredness is my own choice. On Monday 50ish staff members from the district went to the Brewers game that night. I didn't get home until about 12:40. Then Tuesday, we had a Back to School Carnival on the playground. I followed that up by going to a coworker's house for a district fantasy draft. So two events I didn't have to attend, but they were fun and helps build morale.
