Here's what we did each day/night:
Thursday: My dad and I were the only ones there. We did sight seeing and rode on the High Roller, which is their giant Ferris wheel. We ate supper at Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen. I'd give it 4/5 stars. Pretty good. We went back to the hotel around 9 or 10 and went to bed. We're not late night gamblers or partiers.
Friday: My dad and I did more sight seeing in the morning before the rest got there. We ate breakfast at a nearby Denny's. We hoped for a window view on the strip, but they sat us somewhere else. Once the others were there, we are lunch at In & Out. My review is 3/5 stars. I've never had it before, but the fries aren't very good. The burger was decent for fast food. But I'd probably try other things if I ever go back out west. After lunch we waited for two more to join us, then ended up walking the strip. We found some store that sold cheap drinks, so we got those rather than paying $15 for a beer at the hotels/casinos.
After walking and drinking for a while, we all grouped off and went our separate ways. Like I said, my dad and I went to see Carrie Underwood. We wanted to see a show, and my dad didn't want to see a magic show. Carrie was the only musical act we were somewhat interested in, so we decided on that. We bought tickets 3 or 4 hours ahead of time, and there were still plenty of seats. We opted for the cheap nosebleeds, but it's a small theater, so it wasn't too bad. But she was really, really good. I didn't find any flaws in any of the notes she sang. And she sings some hard notes. I knew almost all of the songs, except for maybe 3 or 4. The set design was really cool, and the screens and effects were well done. I'd highly recommend it.
Then we took a walk back to our hotel (can't remember if I mentioned it, but we stayed at Harrah's). We decided to cut through the Venetian on our way, and we accidentally entered the Wynn instead, so we walked in the opposite direction for a good 20 or 30 minutes. Oops. But we finally made it back and went to sleep around 11pm.
Saturday: My dad and I got breakfast next door at McDonalds, just to hold us off until we had a bigger lunch. At some point in the morning, we were waiting for the rest of the crew to get up since they'd been our much later than us. We walked to the Venetian and got gelato. I forgot to mention that we got some on Friday, too. Friday's flavor was birthday cake. I'll give it a 5/5 stars. Very good. I love birthday cake flavor. My dad and I killed more time walking around, and then eventually we went to Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips per my friend's recommendation. The fries were really good, but the chicken tenders I got were just okay. They were pretty fatty. I'd give it s 3/5 stars.
After lunch we met up with the rest of the crew and went to the Omega Mart in Area 15. My brother's friend was the one who wanted to go. It was an "art" exhibit, but really weird. We paid a few dollars more to follow a storyline. It was like an escape room with tasks, but it didn't make much sense, and we didn't know what our objective was. My brother's friend really liked it, but I think the rest of us were underwhelmed. I'd give it 2/5 stars, tops. I wouldn't waste your time.
When we got back, most of us went to the Tilted Kilt for supper. The food was decent, but nothing too different than what you can get in places around here. That's how I judge my food... is it better than Wisconsin? I'd give the restaurant a 3/5.
After supper, we grouped off and went our separate ways, but ended up meeting here and there again that night. My dad and I played the slots for a little while at Harrah's, and a couple other casinos. Let's just say I did not win enough to retire like some of my coworkers advised me.
We went back up to our room and were just about ready to get in be around 9pm, since our flight was at 7:05am the next morning. Then my brother texted me and said a few of them were going to go see the Bellagio fountains. So my dad and I went with, even though we saw them on Thursday.
We went back to Harrah's after the fountains and went to bed. Then you already heard the confusion we had at the airport this morning. And that's my trip report. A couple stats below...
Favorite activity: Carrie Underwood's residency
Favorite food: Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen
Least favorite activity: Omega Mart
Least favorite food: In & Out
Overall, I'm glad I went, but it might be a one-time trip for me. I had fun, but a lot of Vegas isn't my style. Gambling, partying, and clubbing isn't for me. But I did really enjoy walking around and socially drinking with the crew, and I would have liked to see more shows. I wish there were more shows during the days, and you didn't have to pick just one a night. I'd give the trip a 4/5 overall, but if I did another trip, I think it'd be somewhere else. My dad and I both said we would want our next non-Disney World trip to be to.......... Disneyland.
We said we'd do 4 or 5 days at the parks, then a couple days doing other things out there. Not sure what.
