Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I love your fireplace -- so cozy, and perfect for the Christmas season (and all winter, actually). :)

Do you roast marshmallows on it? :hungry:
We have an outdoor fire pit. We keep the food outdoors - marshmallows, s’mores, hot dogs, hobo pies.

That’s actually our Christmas Eve plan - family around the outdoor fire - 2m apart in the fresh air.

Will be confirmed tomorrow at 1:00, but every major news outlet has leaked that Ontario is going back into a Spring 2020-type full lockdown; effective Thursday at 12:01 am (ie-Christmas Eve Day).

All of Southern Ontario (the vast, vast majority of us) for a minimum of 28 days; Northern Ontario for 14 days.

The hospitals and mayors have been begging for this for more than a week.

It is what it is. Our family will be fine - Mike and I are used to seasonal employment anyway, but I really feel for families that are living pay cheque to pay cheque, and businesses that just will not survive another 28 day shutdown.

I’m sure we’ll go a little stir crazy, but thank you Lord, our cupboards are full, our bills are current, and there’s a couple of commission cheques coming in the new year.

Unlike the last full lockdown when I was still recovering from hip replacement, this downtime will be different. I’ve got a list of home repairs/improvements to keep us busy, a new puppy to lick our faces off, a lovely wood-burning fireplace that we’re using for the first time in 5 or 6 years, and the firm belief that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Stay well friends. I truly love you all. In good times and bad, this is my happy place. (Well, technically that’s WDW, but you guys are a close second. 😘)

Wow. Yet, the further restrictions are not unexpected, given the rise in cases. I've been guessing that this will also happen in many other places, not just up North. (Assuming it might happen shortly after Christmas Day in these parts, but we'll see.)

Like yourself, I'm a glass half full type of person, and look at all the wonderful people, things, etc., in my life and focus on them. (I say that, while also fully recognizing that some people are sadly out of work, and/or ill, etc., and are in a very bad situation. My heart goes out to all of them.)

Let's just hope that none of the "improvements" require a ladder.

Most of the improvements just require me threatening to hire somebody. 😂

Some painting, a new light fixture, and approx 40 trips to the dump!

At first, I thought, why 40 trips to the dump? Maybe some of whatever you're unloading, you could have a yard sale and make some bank.

But then I realized all the group-type gatherings up there have been put on lockdown. 😷 So, I guess you might as well just chuck the stuff. (Too bad -- I recall years ago when my siblings and I cleared out my parents' home, we brought in over $800 in a yard sale, just selling "stuff".)

Nah, this stuff is straight up garbage. Anything decent I give to Auntie to sell on FB Marketplace to raise funds for our kids in Africa.

Emergency Management Measures Take Effective Sunday, December 13

COATESVILLE, PA — On the heels of Governor Wolf’s December 10 Limited-Time Mitigation Order that remains in effect through January 4, 2021, the City of Coatesville has declared a State of Emergency that outlines proactive measures beginning Sunday, December 13.

“Despite mitigation efforts implemented previously, COVID-19 cases in Coatesville continue to escalate,” says Coatesville City Manager James Logan. “With positive cases surpassing 550, and five COVID-19-related deaths, City Council has pledged to implement immediate additional measures critical to protect the health, safety and welfare of our residents.”
The following are among the key protections put in place:
  • All assemblies or gatherings of more than four unrelated persons, other than police, fire or rescue personnel, upon public streets, in public parks or at any other public place are prohibited.
  • All persons standing, walking or otherwise located in any public street, public park or other public places within the City of Coatesville shall wear a face covering as directed by and subject to the limited exceptions set forth in the Order of the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health effective November 18, 2020
The City Manager, Director of Emergency Management, and Emergency Management Team are collaborating with the Chief of the City of Coatesville Police Department to coordinate enforcement of the provisions that are subject to fine.

“It’s imperative that we unite to tackle COVID-19 and preserve the health and public safety of our community,” says Logan.

The full Declaration can be accessed at www.Coatesville.org.

I'm sorry! With your lockdown, what does that mean for Christmas? Can you still get with family? We're not allowed over here....we're in a lockdown for 5 weeks, but my husband works from home and I am considered essential, so it hasn't really changed anything for us, other than we can't visit anyone and all the non-essential stores are closed.

Good luck with all the home repairs!

Any recent puppy pictures?

Lockdown delayed until 12:01 am on Boxing Day.
Doesn’t change any of our plans one iota.

Campfire Christmas Eve. Christmas morning and dinner for four.

So they're still leaving Christmas Day open without extra restrictions, and delaying them one day to Saturday. Interesting.
Yes and no. We have many, many restrictions in place already. Masks are mandatory everywhere indoors.

Current restrictions, from the gov’t website:

- Limit close contact to your household (the people you live with) and stay at least 2 metres apart from everyone else.

- Do not visit any other household or allow visitors in your home. If you live alone, you can have close contact with only one other household.

All events and social gatherings:
  • Indoors: 5 people
  • Outside: 25 people
Religious, wedding and funeral services:
  • Indoors: 30% capacity
  • Outdoors: 100 people
Only go out for essential reasons, such as:
  • work
  • school
  • groceries
  • pharmacy
  • health care
  • helping vulnerable people
  • exercise and physical activity
Work remotely, where possible.

Some regions (Peel and TO) have been in lockdown for 28 days already. Next door Hamilton, entered lockdown on Monday.

The rest of us join them on Boxing Day at 12:01 am. This means that all indoor dining is closed. Malls closed. Gyms, libraries and museums closed. Hair salons and nail salons closed. Lowe’s, Home Depot and other similar stores closed. Pet food stores closed. Curbside pickup will remain your only option.

Tighter social gathering measures include:
  • Indoors: not allowed, except with members of your household (or one other household if you live alone)
  • Outside: 10 people
Religious, wedding and funeral services:
  • Indoors: 10 capacity
  • Outside: 10 people
To those who are saying that the lockdown should start immediately, I say - then conduct yourself accordingly. No one is forcing you to exercise your extra options for the additional two days. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I had to go to City Hall to get the puppy’s 2021 licence, and took a stroll around our city centre Victoria Park.

Our “Brutal” City Hall, as well as some of the other lovely buildings that face the park.

could you have ordered them online and have it shipped to the house ?

Probably. It’s easy for renewal, but for a first time licence, it’s just so much easier to do it in person.

Also, I’d fully wanted to see the Nativity. Many cities no longer do them, but we still do. No Living Nativity this year, for obvious reasons. 🙁
