Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Andrew C

You know what's funny?
So, what do I do when I am sad (after I am done crying, of course)? I spend money!

In this case, our trip flights - which quite frankly I sorta thought I had already done.

Just as well I waited though. We got JetBlue w/1 bag per person for a smidge cheaper than SouthWest. Even if we end up paying for 1 extra bag between the four of us, we still come out ahead ... and it's JetBlue! Bigger seats, assigned seating, unlimited snacks and soft drinks, and individual tv sets.

Direct flight each way, flying out of good old Buffalo.

Wanna here something funny? No? Well you don't have a choice. I am flying jet blue into buffalo in September. Canada trip for me and the fam!

So while at MK, we had an 11:15 lunch reservation at Be Our Guest.

We sat in the library, mainly because it had quite a few open tables, including one large enough to fit the 7 people in our group. I had my usual croque monsieur with a Master's cupcake for dessert. The best meal I've had there yet! They loaded up on the cheese and bechamel sauce on my sandwich, which is just what I love!

Then I had to get the ballroom pictures, which seem to be a requirement for most Be Our Guest visitors.

And then a little bit later we went on the Winnie the Pooh ride, which we hadn't been on in years. The words on this page sum up my feelings about it.

We also had FPs for SDMT around this time, but I didn't get any decent pictures. Really like the ride, though, but it is quite short, and I feel like they need more dark ride elements to it.

After that we headed out of the park and back to our resorts. Here's a picture from the walk out.

We went back to our hotels that afternoon before going to Epcot later that night for Illuminations.

Here are some pictures of our building at Riverside.

So in the afternoon we went back to Epcot again! We ended up being picked up by the family we went with because they didn't want to pay for parking, and we had a parking pass from our hotel. Earlier that morning they drove to MK, but the CMs working the booths weren't ready for them to pay yet, so they let them go in free! Actually, the rest of the week they got out of paying except for the final two days because they don't have CMs working the booths during early EMHs anymore.

Anyway... here are some Future World pictures.

We were able to switch one of our FPs from Buzz Lightyear at MK to Soarin' at Epcot because we didn't use the Buzz one, so we went there first.

Then we still had some time to kill before staking out a spot for Illuminations, so we went to Club Cool, where I saw countless people being tricked into trying the Beverly, as well as several unknowing victims taste the foul substance. It was quite enjoyable. And South Africa continues to be my favorite drink there!

Then we still had a small amount of time, and we decided to go to Mexico and ride the Gran Fiesta Tour. But we had also found a perfect spot to watch Illuminations from while on our walk there. But we decided to take a chance on losing the spot since there weren't many people around.

Also, this is that time on the ride where I said it was super relaxing, as you can see here. Plus, fireworks! Who needs Illuminations now?

Then we looked around the little market in Mexico, before heading back to our spot. It's the railing right before you enter the Mexico pavilion, a little bit past where the Duffy meet and greet is (by the way, I hate Duffy if I haven't shared that before). And guess what? It was still wide open!

Here's a picture of Morocco and Tower of Terror from our viewing area!

Now the waiting game continued, as we set up shop around an hour early, but the wait didn't seem that long as I had a new camera to play with, and had fun talking to the people I was with.

I forgot if I put a filter or different setting on this one. I thought it was a panorama, but then I don't think my camera has that setting.

This one I know I did either with the auto setting, or with the low light setting. I actually found that low light most of the time works better as a night scene setting than the actual night scene setting does.

Oh hello Mr. Duck.

Here I was playing with a feature that blurred most of the image except for a small horizontal portion. I kept the ducks in focus, and I kind of like it.

And then I saw the moon, which was in a perfect sliver.

So, the time has come! Illuminations! Feel free to listen to this soundtrack while reading this post.

I hadn't seen Illuminations since 2002, and at that time I was quite the youngin, so I didn't really remember it. I had seen videos on YouTube, but they don't do it justice. The musical score was epic, and the fireworks and lasers and pyrotechnics were captivating.

It is also worth noting that a woman was plotting to squeeze her child in between our group to watch, so my family was strategically was the best was to combat this. Our plan, scoot closer together, and put up a solid line of defense. It was quite effective.

And since most of this post is Illuminations, there's really no narration, so I'll just post pictures and comment if I feel necessary.

I love this picture.

And those were most of the good shots I got. I took a lot of pictures on the fireworks setting, which only blurred the fireworks and made them look not so great, so when I switched back to a different setting I got better shots.

After that, I had never seen Epcot at night, or really remembered it. It was pretty awesome to say the least. Seeing Spaceship Earth lit up is so much better in real life than in pictures, but I took pictures anyway.

This is probably my favorite of all the nighttime Spaceship Earth pictures I took, and trust me I took more than my fair share.

And then one from outside the gates.

After that we went back to our hotels. My dad and I took a walk around Riverside and went to fill up our mugs. I have pictures, but they all turned out pretty bad, so I won't post them.

Up next: Another day at Epcot! (It was a very Epcot-filled first half of the trip, but I'm not complaining!)

Now I'm trying to put the video footage of that a capella group on Movie Maker so I can upload it to YouTube to share with you guys, but it's not letting me. Says they might be corrupt. :banghead:
