No Christmas dinner for us. Better late than never.
We both got the same thing, except I got carrots and Mike got brussel sprouts, which actually came out as a salad.

Everything was very good, except for the corn muffins. They were bad. So bad, that not even Mike would finish them. I’ve always said that I never met a corn muffin that I didn’t like ... well, I can’t say that anymore.

We are all fed up, gassed up, and back on the highway. People are very, very friendly in WV. I give them 👍👍
Cracker Barrel is amazing!!! Once on a Disney trip we ate there 3 times... no shame.

This was also somewhere between 2003-2005ish, so they didn't have quite the dining options they have now on property. And my brother and I were young, so we were much pickier.

We were also staying off property, so that made it more convenient to eat off property.

We are also big fans of Cracker Barrel. I wish we did not have to drive 45 minutes to the nearest one......so.....mostly we eat there when we are on vacation. Especially when traveling I -95

We have settled in for the night.
Welcome to Charlotte, NC y’all.

When they say Microtel, they mean micro. 😂

No worries. Tomorrow night we get a warm cookie when we check in.
Is it a Holiday Inn Express? It really reminds me of the hotel we stayed at in Frankfurt Germany this past Summer. There was barely room to walk through, but it was clean and it had air conditioning, so we were quite happy after having spent a night in a filthy room with no air and everything broken. We gladly took a place with limited space for the benefits of a clean shower and bed.

We like the Cracker Barrels in the South, but the ones up here are not all that good.

Looks like a nice room
It’s fine. Even better, it’s only $53/night.

While we were at Cracker Barrel, Mike figured out how much further he was willing to drive and then I just went on Bookings.com to find something three hours up the road.

Microtel is part of the Wyndham group, which I think also owns Days Inn. We have not had good luck with Days Inns in more than a decade, but this place is fine.

No coffee maker in the room, so we are headed down to brekkie. And by brekkie, I mean mostly coffee.

Ditto. That's a shame really, as DI's were pretty reliable and decent back in the mid-80's, maybe into the early 90's. I remember as a child seeing those "It's A Beautiful Morning" commercials for the chain, back when they actually provided such.
We stayed at Days Inn a lot on one of our Disney trips. We had relatives in Florida, so we drove from Wyo to Florida and stayed in Days Inn because kids stayed free. And there were restaurants that had deals where kids ate free. I'm not sure which trip it was, but I remember mom looking up where all the Days Inn hotels were along the way and those were the places where we stayed.

We like Hampton Inns too, but we stayed at a Residence Inn this year in Silver Spring, and it was really nice - our room was huge with a full kitchenette, free breakfast, etc. The HI we used to stay at in Silver Spring was very nice, but you had to park a couple of blocks away at a public garage, which we were never really comfortable with, especially with a carload of gifts.
