Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

The fountain of youth is nanotechnology. The reason we age is because every time our cells replicate the “code” of our DNA degrades a little. Count up all the many times our cells need to replicate over however many years, and there you go. With nanotech it’s theorized we can prevent the “code” from degrading essentially making it so we can be young forever. Keeping us young forever could also possibly lead to virtual immortality barring any external harm that could lead to death and of course sickness.

This is my nerd side btw.
WDW will get really crowded then.

Yup. It also brings up the issue of how to bring in new generations and overpopulation. Would it really benefit our species to be selfish and live that long rather than letting new individuals take over? It hurts and emotionally abuses every living creature on the planet, but death is here for a reason. It’s what gives life its meaning. We know our time is short and can end any second. Just think of what you would do with an immortal life. My guess is it’s the same thing most of us do with a single day off: PJs and TV/internet/video games/insert your favorite hobby here/etc.

Even beyond that is how do you support yourself if you lived forever. As you say the populations would be huge with all those people needing to compete for income and food. It would be like the commercial where that old guy is a lifeguard and supposedly singing... "85 and I wanna go home!" To be honest the way the world and this country is right now, I don't want to stay anymore them my allotted time.

Are you moving? I don’t think you shared it here, but I read in CCCC that it looked inevitable.
New apartment? With one of your daughters?
Long story short, the landlords want to "modernize" my apartment so they can charge more for it. Two things, first I don't want to pay that much for fake marble counter tops and stainless appliances. Two after negotiating with them, I had them change the demand that I be out of here in 6 months to extending it to 15 months and two months vacating notice to one month. I could, perhaps, stay here in this complex and pay $200.00 + per month more, but, I don't wanna. So I have applied to a number of fairly new Senior Housing Apartments which will save me half of what I pay now, but, they have up to a 2 year waiting list to get in one. I'm gambling that the 16 months I have left on my lease (as of today) will give me time to get in. If not my furniture goes into storage and I will stay with my daughter until one opens up.

Fingers crossed that things work out for you.

We loved having my dad live with us. My mom and I minorly butted heads a few times, but my dad was a delight. I really cherish those memories.

So I’ve got this useless compromised credit card, and all I can think is - thank goodness, I bought this Serta Sherpa microfleece reversible heated electric throw ... with 5 heat settings LAST WEEK!

I bought one for Ski too, but I’m making him wait until Christmas.

Heated car seats. Heated steering wheel. Heated couch blankie. Heated bed blanket. Can someone tell me why I am sooooo cold all the time?

That was my thought, too....you would never be able to retire, because you would have no income, and if you are practically immortal, you'd have to be able to generate income to support yourself. So, you'd have to work for the duration of your very long life. And how bored would you get with your job if you knew you'd have to do that for eternity? I suppose, with that much time, if you had the money, you could conceivably change careers once in a while....go back to school to learn something different. But then you'd be having to go back to school every few decades to learn something new. I think I'll pass. I love learning, but I wouldn't want to go back to the tests, homework, etc stage.
I wonder how many would choose to make use of the fountain of youth nanotechnology...if you thought it all the way through and knew all the implications, who would choose that?

Did some eagling this afternoon. Watched one catch a fish, then fly with it to a little island. One of the turkey vultures started circling, so the eagle’s mate swooped in and chased it away. So cool to watch!

Anyway, here’s a few pictures...
