He was a Jay briefly too. 😉
Speaking of past Jays, after seeing how LA's Puig flipped tossed his bat, threw his arms into the air, and danced / celebrated/ flexed like Gaston as he rounded the bases when he hit home-runs this WS & postseason... I think Bautista was unfairly demonized for his little batflip incident against the Rangers in that playoff game a few years back. Just saying.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Apparently it’s a cultural thing.

The following article actually mentions both Bautista and Puig. I don’t know about Puig, but in José’s case it was the perfect punctuation point in a pivotal game; not something he did regularly.

I’m also of this opinion that big homeruns in key games SHOULD be celebrated. Pitchers often punch the air after getting the final out of a game. Doesn’t bother me.

^This.

I've never had a problem with it. Thought Bautista and others have been unfairly mistreated due to it, don't have a problem with Puig's antics (though a bit over the top), it's all just relieving tension and excitement during key moments in a game. They earned the moment. Let 'em have their fun.

That was one thing I didn't like about Brian McCann when he was a Brave. Sometimes he would take offense to something as simple as a hitter (heaven forbid!) watching the ball go over the fence, and considered it "disrespectful" toward the Braves' pitcher who allowed the HR.
Umm, no, Brian.
