Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

There's a paved path around the pond here with a bridge connecting the 2 loops, so I go out early every morning and walk a lap or 2 while the coffee's brewing. We have a lot of waterfowl at this time of year, who like to hang out at the bridge so people will feed them. This morning when I went to cross the bridge the only footprints there were these. It just made me smile...

Thank you. It still looks a bit bare to me. The big blank wall really bugs me. Hopefully I’ll find something to go on the wall soon.

No paint is going to be touching these tables. I like the wood look.

Yes, that’s RC. My little sister made me the cup.
Don't let her painting fetish bother you. Some people, those that probably should be confined for some unexplainable reason want to cover up rich, wood products with a coat of plastic paint. I'm nearly 70 and I will never understand why anyone could possibly think that sterile single color, no personality, paint is something to strive for. I back you up completely on this point. On another point, I don't care for distressed wood, especailly artificially distressed. It seems to me like that should be a felony.

Yes, the wall could use something. I found that some very attractive, not high value, art work can be found at charity, donated, thrift stores. Some are very nice and the variety is huge, at least around here. The cost is ridiculously small.

Last week we had just a dusting of snow on the front walk and there were cat and bird prints in them - in different areas. It was adorable.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Four more inches of snow overnight. Not a blizzard mind you, but more than enough to ensure a crappy drive to work today.

I’d best get moving. I’m budgeting 95 minutes for a 65 minute commute. If that’s not enough, it’s not enough. It’s not like I’m going to see anyone all day anyway.

Another few inches coming on Friday, but I’m off that day.

Not my usual kind of screen shot:

As for painting or not painting over wooden furniture, there's no one size fits all on that. I look at the big picture--will the furniture be the focal point, or will it be more understated, having other appointments in the room taking center stage. Based upon that, color schemes are very important. Whenever possible, I also prefer the natural wood color, but not in every single instance. I have both painted and non-painted furniture at home now--just depends upon the room.

I do like your suggestion of scouting through thrift stores for a variety of artwork, at reasonable prices.

I understand that it is a personal decision, however, there is only one possible scenario that would have made me paint a wooden piece of furniture. That was when I was first married and I had the opportunity to purchase a captains chair that had been involved in a fire. The char had gone so deep that I couldn't get to the maple underneath so I painted it a glossy black. It fit the chair and the natural wood would not have worked.

I check some of the local thrift stores from time to time. I haven’t had much luck thus far. I’ll keep trying though.
