I actually figured that out. Ski played high school ball for two years (before being pulled for his heart anomaly) and I went to every game.
I learned downs (only three up here), scoring, and the line of scrimmage at the first game. Never learned another thing thereafter.

Canadian - 3 downs to gain 10m vs 4 downs to gain 10 yards. And that's it - that's all I know. Oh wait, maybe we have bigger balls. Or we used to - even before y'all started deflating yours.

Even though I have access to 50x the amount of US stations compared to Canadian channels, I have NEVER seen a tv ad for handguns.
We are also not allowed to advertise cigarettes up here either. Not on tv, radio, print, or sponsorship. This is a Federal mandate. Do you guys still advertise ciggies?
In fact, in Ontario, we have a cigarette display ban. Corner stores look like this:
Stores that have a pharmacy department cannot sell tobacco products at all, except in a separate self contained kiosk outside the floor sales area. Costco doesn't even bother anymore.

No cigarette ads. No cigarette billboards at any sporting events where they could be shown on TV. TONS of graphic disgusting ANTI-smoking ads. No handgun ads.

I've never seen an ad for a handgun on TV at all. We haven't had cigarette ads down here for at least 20 years, maybe longer.
