Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

I've toured The Breakers about 6 times over the years--it's beyond impressive. I always thought it was cool that they had the salt water faucets, along with the regular water faucets.

Actually, I've toured all of the mansions down in that area. Have you ever been to the Vanderbilt's horse stable? It's more elegantly appointed than any place I've lived in!! :hilarious:

Question: Did you get a chance to go over to The Elms? They also decorate beautifully for the Christmas season as well. (For any of you who are not familiar with The Elms, it was where the movie, The Great Gatsby, was filmed -- with Robert Redford :inlove: .)
Actually The Great Gatsby was filmed at Rosecliff, but The Elms is nice too. We have a membership so we just go to Newport in the afternoon (after the school groups leave) and usually just go to one of the mansions. The only ones open for Christmas are the Breakers, The Elms, and Marble House. The Breakers is definitely my favorite, but I like the Elms a lot too. Marble House is too , well, marblely for me, but it's worth seeing once.

OMG--you're right!! It was Rosecliff. I love all the mansions, including the "smaller" ones like Chepstow, Chateau Sur Mer, Kingscote and the Isaac Bell House. They're all amazing in their own style. I've also been out to Rough Point to Doris Duke's estate--that's something to see as well.

Their charter with the city does not allow them to make money...at all....There was just a big article in the paper about them redoing the charter to allow them to become more of full fledged tourist attraction and a gift shop is in the works...cabanas will be just around the corner.

Hot dog!! Do you think the cabana pricing will be in line with the $650/day, (before taxes), that WDW charges?
