I've met many posters here and never been shy about saying hello if I recognize someone. Nice to have a face to put with them, and I've never been disappointed. DH thought I was nuts the first time, but now he enjoys meeting all my imaginary friends.

Say howdy next time. Heck, whenever I'm in public, I'm always craving attention & keeping high hopes someone will recognize me. (Just look for someone slightly average, and borderline creepity).

Cheerio!
:D

Thanks for your comments, I moved them here as they are more Chit Chat related than part of an excellent Trip Report that I genuinely do not want to derail, @JenniferS went above and beyond, I'm in awe as I don't even have my own uploaded yet. Most of our trip overlapped and she is done, me not even started *hangs head*

While I appreciate your advice every family demographic is different. Retired doesn't necessarily mirror the social media repercussions that young adults do with launching careers. We all know what employers do with research for employment including diving into social media for candidates. Disney especially keeps a close eye on their employees. My DD just launching a career works for a University which warns their employees about being wary of their photo and posts that might be re-posted. My DS at the time of his vacation was up for a promotion and I respect the restrictions put upon him. He no longer even has an active Facebook because of the possible issues of being tagged.

We traveled as a family unit and I need to respect my adult children's careers. It isn't always as simple as if I was traveling solo. While we all have a great deal of fun on the site, from time to time things do derail here and at times even the verbiage used to express ourselves can get a bit dicey to immature. Coming off one of particular less than stellar months of such posts and into our vacation I was mindful of that in what I was willing to expose my family to. I was aware of several different members vacationing in our happy place at the same time. I opted out of the thought of interacting with our family trip with my cyber friends at the world even though I was aware of at least a dozen or so members we would overlap.

I have to say though that some of the members here are more than my imaginary friends. Some I have known for over a decade, some from other sites that lapped over to here. We know each other well, our family names, where we live and have met many over the years. I do consider them my genuine friends. It is a trust factor built over many, many years. I am a private person, always have been. The only photo's you'll see that can be identifiable is of my recently lost Pup. Even my screen name is just my first name. I guess most will respect that given most of our screen member names. Most of us are pretty guarded that way.

I respect your feelings. I would have liked to have done a brief one on one "hi" with you, but no worries.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a pretty open book. Most people know my full name, and more than a handful have my email address.

Despite most people in this thread knowing my sons' names, I did not mention either by their real name in the TR.

Just a side note - I could have sworn you telling us that Gabe was a shortened version of your middle name. No? Either way, no biggie. Some people are more private than others. I'm not. But I take no offence to you wanting to maintain your anonymity.

Glad you had a great trip. Ours was lovely. So lovely, that we've already booked the same 11-day stretch for next year.

No iPhone 7 Plus for me today.

I wanted to do a pre-order before we left, but Dude said it was totally unnecessary. Today, same Dude tells me uh-oh.

My current phone contract expires on 10/5, which is pretty much when Rogers expects to have more in stock.

The only person who is really sad is my brother, who is patiently waiting for my 6 Plus.

Very sorry to hear about your lost dog. They can be like family, and going through something like that is never easy. They say dogs have the ability to sense tension, and other underlying factors of human instability which can many times cause them to run off without reason or warning. It is always sad for the owners when this happens, but many times the dog finds a more stable home with less stress factors, which in turn gives the animal a much better life, which is really the most important thing. I certainly wish him / her the best.

Glad you had a fun vacation to the World. Early to mid-September really is the best time of year to go, or at least one of. Schools are just starting back, and the crowds don't seem as overwhelming. Peter Pan's Flight is one example of a ride which I can rarely ever visit without seeing a posted 65-min or more standby time. I get it that it's a popular classic which never grows old, but is there ever a time when it's wait time is reasonable? So I'm sure going this time of year when the crowds are thin would be an ideal month to partake in some classics like Pan, and other must-do attractions which are notorious for backing-up to ridiculous wait times.

I totally understand about not wanting too much posted "out there" on the interwebs, as far as social media goes, etc. At my job, if my boss ever found out that I had visited a Disney theme park (or any theme park for that matter), I'd be in some serious hot water. So yes, I am selective too, as far as who I choose to mix & mingle with. I've met some really amazing people from here at the forums, and have also enjoyed the traditional family trips as well. As my father used to always say: "It isn't the journey across the open field which is important, it is how you pause to reflect, and take in all those shades of green as you enjoy the stroll".

Glad your adventure to WDW was a pleasant one.

I think we can all understand the wish for privacy while on the Internet and respect the need to limit interaction under certain circumstances, however, to post that you saw her and did not say hello not just multiple times, but multiple, multiple times, seemed unnecessary. I know several members that use a photo avatar and live somewhat near me and if I saw them at Costco I would probably go introduce myself - but if I didn't - I certainly would not post here that I saw them and didn't say introduce myself. But that's just me - to each his own. Glad you and your family had a great trip.

Back in my college days we used to enjoy hanging out on the East side (we'd walk there from our campus on the other side of the city since none of us had a car). Now we pretty much avoid it as much as possible, but I do enjoy the architecture there.
