Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

So here are some pictures from my trip to Green Bay. We got there on Sunday, and the first thing we did was the newly constructed Packers Hall of Fame. There were some cool things in there, but what intrigued me the most were decades-old scouting reports for players. This one jumped out because of one comment. It's for fullback Paul Hornung. Everything is positive except at the bottom where it says, "LIKE GIRLS", with multiple underlines. He was a bit of a player on and off the field. It also says in red "WILL NOT GO TO CANADA". Sorry Jennifer.

There was also a document from the Brett Favre trade, where the Packers agreed to terms with the Falcons.

Other than that I have a bunch of pictures of uniforms and trophies, but I won't bore you with that. So that was about all we did that day, besides eat and go see the bay, which I've already shared pictures of.

The next day (Monday) we watched practice, as well as watch players ride bikes to the practice field. This is a tradition that was started by Vince Lombardi in the 1960s. Each day for training camp, players ride kids' bikes to and from the practice field. Some players choose a new kid every day, some choose the same kid for the entire training camp. It's really cool to see. There are also some kids who have specialized bike for the events.

Here is a picture of Blake Martinez, a rookie inside linebacker, riding one of the specialized bikes. Martinez is becoming one of my favorite players already.

IMG_1331.JPG

The most notable players to ride by were WRs Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, along with safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (did not make that name up), and defensive lineman Mike Daniels. I was, for the second time in my life, standing on the wrong side of the fences, because Jordy Nelson high-fived everyone on the other side of the road. He did the same two years ago, and I missed out again this year. But I did get to high five a few players. The only notable one is cornerback/safety hybrid Micah Hyde.

After watching the players ride the bikes to practice we actually watched practice. We stayed for about 20 minutes, then had to leave for a stadium tour we had coming up. I didn't get many great pictures from practice, and they're all kind of boring anyway, so I'll skip straight to the tour.

We got some great views of the stadium, and some behind-the-scenes stuff. We got to walk in special club seating areas, the players' tunnel, and on the sidelines of the field. The way Lambeau Field is set up, there are a lot of player-centered areas around the tunnel they come out for on gameday (obviously), and while our tour guide was stopped and talking to us outside the entrance to the locker room, Randall Cobb walked by us and waved to us all. It was kind of neat. Then we made our way onto the field, which is always cool because they pipe in crowd noise and introduce us as if we're actually players coming out on gameday.

Enough of my babbling, here are some photos.

This is my favorite stadium shot, taken on my phone, which also made it to my Instagram, which I never post on.

And that about sums up my trip.

I believe back in the day there was a rival league in Canada when the NFL hadn't gained popularity. I know in the 20s or 30s the league collapsed, and had to be reformed into the NFL, where the Packers were one of the three teams from the previous league who actually paid the $250 entrance fee to the league.

really! We got our desserts to go because we were all so stuffed. I had a slice of key lime pie that was so big, I couldn't even finish it 6 hours later...

I'm unfamiliar with this wonderful place you've mentioned, but key lime pie is my absolute favorite! Hard to find decent key lime pie around these parts. The best key lime pie is found in Florida; I hunt it down whenever I go down there.

So our server's name was "Wildfire", and she's lucky Hubby paid the bill, rather than me.

I was keeping a running tally, and was mentally deducting $2 from her tip every time she flirted with, batted her eyes at, winked at, or touched my husband.

By my calculations, she owes me 8 bucks.

And no, just because I think he's all that (and a bag of chips), doesn't necessarily mean that I think Hubby makes every woman swoon. "Wildfire" clumsily flirted with every guy at every table she was serving.

Anyway, it was too late for the Haunted Walk, too late for Florence Foster Jenkins, so we walked down to Shopper's Drugmart for some Gaviscon, and now we are back in our room.

"Wildfire" may have been a big flirt, but she was not the world's fastest waitress. I really wanted to tell her to "chop chop" but that would have been rude.

"Chop chop" wouldn't have been nearly as rude as Wildfire touching your hubs, in my opinion.

Today is cruise day, which is the real reason we came down. This is the shortest Kingston trip we've ever done. Yesterday's weather didn't help.

We did a little walkies around after breakfast (meh!) and reminisced how much the boys would have loved this place ten years ago.

An indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna, plus an outdoor pool.

Brekkie:

(FYI - I ended up just eating toast. Food has really got to be exceptional for me to appreciate it before 1:00 pm.) The coffee was fine, and the iced water was iced. It's all good.

If you're going to exercise while on vacation (and I'm the first to admit that I'm not), then this view would certainly help.
image.jpeg image.jpeg

There was a little girl swimming in the indoor pool unattended, and it didn't feel right to take a pool pic.
Hot tub:

Outdoor pool. There are more people around so it didn't feel creepity.
image.jpeg

Rocks at the shoreline to keep people out of the water. Who'da thunk it?

That's our room on the top floor, corner "suite".

The hotel is a little overdue for a cosmetic facelift, but her bones are good, and the location and views are wonderful. And I'm the type of person who really appreciates a balcony with a view.
