It was a pretty typical do-nothing day. The Ski got home safely from his up-north fishing trip, and Hubby and I are heading to Kingston in the morning.

We've been over this - I didn't like Jamaica.
Unlike Hubby, I am not keen on going back.

We are, of course, going to Kingston, ON, where we will be sure to pop in to see Sir John Eh, Canada's first PM. Unless it's raining, in which case we will just wave in his general direction.

Maybe somewhat. But it also has no shortage of been-there, done-that resemblances to other films such as Free Willy, E.T., (boy has peculiar friend, "The Man" wants to take peculiar friend...) It's all a ride we've been on before. (imo)

You may like it better than I did, as I'm sure there are plenty who did enjoy it very much. (There are far worse movies out there for sure.) But it certainly didn't help growing up enjoying the original classic, and missing all the key features of it which were left out from this new version.

Having seen the trailer at the theatre numerous times, I definitely got the ET-vibe.

I just finished Stranger Things on Netflix which follows that exact formula, but absolutely loved it so I was interested in Petes Dragon for the similar feel to that show.

The rain stopped just long enough for us to stop at the cemetery and say hello to Sir John Eh.

It's a very modest cemetery plot, measuring 40' x 12', at most.


Very modest, considering he was the first PM of Canada, was one of the most prominent Fathers of Confederation, and was the sitting PM at the time of his death.
