I was 3 minutes late today. I dare not push my luck any further by leaving early.

On another note, Swiss Chalet sounds mighty fine right now.
We can be 3 minutes late before we get infractions. I've never been later than 3 minutes, and only once have I clocked in past my scheduled time. That darn ice is hard to get off of the windshield in the mornings.

Here's the difference - I work in an office by myself. There is no punch clock, there is no one to monitor my comings and goings.

Once here, I have no coffee breaks or lunch break - or ... all day long is a coffee/lunch break, depending on the day.

I live 120 km away, and the trip takes 1h/15 mins. I always budget a full hour and a half. If I'm late, as I was today, it's because of traffic. (Construction season, ugh!) If I anticipate being more than 15 mins late, I have to call HO to let them know. Even then, Ingrid always asks why I am bothering her.

Given that 4 of the other 5 salespeople (including my husband) are chronically late, I am considered the golden child of punctuality. And oh yeah, the other guy who is NEVER late, packs up 15 mins early every night.

I was much later today...

How tardy were you?

20 minutes. Got stuck in construction traffic. Missed my usual train. Next train was late. Waited forever for a subway train to come. I stayed 20 minutes late too so it works out.

I woke up 20 minutes later then usual this morning. I panicked then I remembered that I didn't have anyplace to go, so all was fine!
th

Tomorrow though I have to get up at 4 am, then drive to my daughters place, drop off my car, and she is driving me to the hospital (have to be there at 6 am) to get the kidney stone removed. Not looking forward to it at all, but, it has to get done. :in pain::grumpy:

Sorry about that. Sounds like a whole lot of not fun.
Good luck.

will they use Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) for breaking up the Kidney Stones?

I hope it's just a minor inconvenience, and that you'll feel a lot better afterwards.

Saw this article today and I laughed, because these larger parking spaces are tailor-made for me!! I'm hideous at parking a car, and will often go to the back of a parking lot (to the glut of empty spaces), so I can "spread out" my parking. (I have a little, 2007 Chevy Aveo, not exactly a Sherman tank?! :joyfull: ) I don't like being confined into the little squares they give people to fit their cars into. A few spaces is much nicer.

Now, the article does reference female drivers, but I don't think that lousey parking skills are necessarily gender specific. For example, look at Danica Patrick, an excellent NASCAR race car driver. I'll bet she can park very well, and probably doesn't go to the back of parking lots like me.

So the only thing I'd change about the Chinese system in the article, is just to take off the outline of the woman, and instead, put lettering, "Parking Impaired". That seems reasonable to me.

Nope, they use a laser! My hope is that whomever the surgeon is he/she spent a lot of time playing video games in their youth so that they have a good aim. I try not to imagine the damage that a laser could do if it misses it's mark. They also have to take out the stint that they put in there 5 weeks ago.

I heard this on the radio today.
I laughed and laughed. And then I said, "yes, please".

I am a very good driver - safe, conscientious, and courteous. I just can't park worth a hoot. I have no idea where my front or back actually is, so often I am not "parked", so much as "abandoned".

I'm an excellent parker - both parallel and otherwise. I'm also quite an accomplished driver going in reverse.
My biggest parking accomplish was in high school. I "accidentally " parked in a teachers assigned spot because all the other spots were filled....I had to park somewhere...right?

Well she must have been running late so she just pulled right up to my car almost touching my bumper to block me in. The space was at the end of a row, so I had about three inches in the front and about the same in the back.

I was informed of this by a classmate during homeroom.

In between classes I went back to move my car and I rocked back and forth between those six inches until I was free, leaving her parked out in the middle of the lane the rest of the day.

In retrospect, I probably should never have done it, but it was quite a feat and pretty funny for the students.
