Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

Quite a few years ago, (when I was working at a different job), my boss was the CFO of the company. Anyway, the boss brought in his daughter for Take our Daughters to Work Day. (Since then, they've added sons to the list, but back then, it was just daughters.)

So, the girl was about 10 years old. He introduced her, and then proceeded to (dump) the kid all day on the women who worked in the office, while he took off and just went about his normal business. :banghead: Um . . . none of us really wanted to babysit his kid .. . not to mention, we all had to be on "best behavior" around the boss's kid. No gossiping, no cussing, no extended coffee breaks, nada. We were miserable having his offspring "hover" around us all day. Of course, we all were nice to her, and I doubt she ever realized our resentment toward her father.

In conclusion: I hope this guy was the exception to the rule, and that other parents who take their sons and daughters to work, actually spend time with them!

My sister-in-law works for GM and it looks like they have quite a program for the day. She just posted a picture of her son with his "engineer" certificate and talked about some of the activities. I think that is cool if the company promotes it and makes it fun for everyone, not a chore like you experienced.

Sounds like the day has certainly evolved over the years into something worthwhile. I still just shake my head when I think back to the day that he brought his daughter in--and heaven forbid--that he'd actually show her something about HIS job. :cautious: I mean that's the whole point, right? Show kids all kinds of jobs and not pigeon-hole them into some profession that you think they'll fit into. Let them see everything that's out there for themselves.

I remember going to work with my dad and he let me use the aka am punchcard machine. I have not idea to this day what is was actually used for but it made cool designs.

Man, I'm old.

Figures. The one day we leave the office at a decent hour, there's no Jays' game.
And tomorrow for my day off, I only have to work 1-4.

On another semi-related note, none of the clothes I bought in Buffalo fit. I bought them to fit in the event that I never did get around to dropping a few pounds, and then I went and lost 20. :joyfull:

Two more times and we should be good.

Bummer, Jennifer. I really liked the pretty blue dress you bought. Maybe it comes in a smaller size for you?

Eeeekk . . . those are insane work hours. :jawdrop: I leave home at 7 AM and get home around 6:30 PM, and I though that was bad.
It's just for the first week or so. Things should calm down by the end of next week.
In the meantime, you sell while the market is hot.

I'm so glad I got all my ADR's booked on Monday before we opened though. I've had zero time since.

I guess selling houses you need to be available when other people aren't at work.
A lot of that is true, although dozens of people took the day off on Tues/Wed to be among the first to buy.

A solid three hours every night is spent putting the deals together, photocopying cheques, and doing lead sheets. Gotta love the paperwork.

P.S. - In the last 3 days I have literally eaten:
3 protein bars
1 (165 calorie) bbq'd chicken sausage, nuked at midnight
1/2 container of Wendy's chili.

Fret not though. When we get home, Hubby is going to bbq fresh sausages and burgers. I'm going to have TWO sausages and a whole English cucumber; sliced, with olive oil, vinegar and a pinch of salt.

Slurp.
