I went to DL for the 50th and the Tink part of the show was just amazing. So much better at DL than WDW.

The Tinkerbell at the Magic Kingdom is female and has to weigh within a certain weight range.

Most characters are. The majority of the gestures they do are female so women play the part of the characters with the exception of Goofy. Goofy is exclusively male and one of the few that is because of his height. Foreign students on the work study programs are not allowed to be characters with the exception of Goofy thbecause it's hard to find people tall enough to play him. I had an ex-girlfriend that worked at Disney as part of her hospitality program.

In 2005, my then-fiancee and I won a "Year of a MIllion Wishes" thinger and got to watch the fireworks from atop the landing of the Astro Orbiter. We were told by the castmember at the beginning of Tink's flight that Tinkerbell that evening was a man.

This has been such an fun thread. We actually caught Tink for the first time this past September and I was jumping up and down like a little kid. We missed her in 2011 because it was apparently too windy for her to fly?? At any rate, I loved seeing it in person and really appreciate that someone out there plays Tink and makes that scary flight most nights.
