Because in Scottish fish n chip shopseverything is deep fried. Pizzas, pies, haggis, sausage it all goes straight in the fryer.

I live in a tiny, tiny town in Southeast, MO. We've got a population of around 100, I think. :lol: We have 2 churches, a post office, a gas station/diner/mini-grocery store, volunteer fire department, and an old school building that is now a factory that makes stuff from leather. Other than hats, I'm not sure what else they make though.
Never heard of Foxwood.

The irish chip shops do this aswell, ive had fried pizza, mars bar,crunchie, snickers and all sort never had fried haggis but i will have to try it nxt time i go to scotland.
I have a theory y they do it and it goes like this: Ok the irish and the scottish have a good name as being being heavy drinkers well most of us r, well if u r very drunk u need something very greasy to suck the beer or what ever from ur system so thats y we deep fry it plus if ur drunk u cant taste any thing. Oh i just remember i had a fried pudding one time at xmas.
Ok any way im from N.ireland/ ireland depending on what way u look at it. Im a from the capital belfast but have lived in london derry and omagh for ab 3 years each but have moved back to belfast. Also banoffe is amazing.:slurp:

Just got to love those Ulster frys. Not talking poatatoes but bacon sausuge egg tattie scone soda bread mushrooms. Ohh heart attack on a plate wonderful.

yep, i really need to cut down on that kind of food, but it is a gd hangover cure and my ma makes the best there is. im getting hungry just think ab it. and none of this how would u like ur egg its just there fired and on ur plate

Back in my college days (when I was studying to become an alcoholic) I found a wonderful hangover cure (well besides abstinence).
Here is what you do -- note you must at least be sober enough to realize that if you DON'T do it, you are going to have a major headache in the AM or whenever you get up:
After your last drink at the bar or pub, order a largish glass of straight cranberry juice and drink it all. You will wake up without the headache and some of the other symptoms of overindulgence.
This has worked for me many times.
Luckily now I don't have the problem, I failed in my youthful quest to become an alcoholic. (Little did I know back then that alcoholism is a disease -- you either are or aren't alcoholic -- can't really train to be one-- so I just became a mad scientist instead).

I'm still in those days and have 3 more years left of it. I say that I am "performing Biological research into the effects of Diuretics on the human body", sounds much better than saying that you're going out to get wasted
If you forget the cranberry trick., in the morning you should boil up some Rice and drink the water (I know it sounds horrible) that the rice was boiled in - apparently it contains exactly the electrolytes that the body needs after a drinking session (Haven't tried it myself, I tend to hold onto the bed when I wake up because the room moves )
Anyway, at the moment I live in Montréal where the beer is sooooo cheap and comes in 1L (950ml) cans. I can get a 1L bottle of 10% Carling for less than the price of 1 Pint of 4.whatever% (can't remember what it is) Carling at home.

My husband went to SUNY Plattsburgh, just over the NY border. He was the only one with a car and so he made the beer runs.
Got to know the border patrol as the same guy was on every Friday afternoon. After a few weeks he would just wave them on thru.:lol:

THAT'S how I found out about this! I noticed when I drank vodka drinks I got terrible headaches, UNLESS I mixed it with cranberry... so then I experimented until I found the cranberry juice hangover preventative remedy :sohappy:

That's how it is for me in the local diner...the waitress brings me ice tea before she says hello...and the pizza parlor.:lol:
Even the Chinese takeout...they always know when someone is sick cause I order 2 qts of Won Ton Soup. They always ask is the kids are sick.:lol:

Our local Chinese Takeway (back in England) knows who we are as soon as my dad phones in the order (We always have the same thing, Dinner B for 3, and he has a distinctive accent)

Back in college, my Long Island Iced Tea was waiting for me at the bar when I walked in. Nowadays, the only predictable thing I get is breakfast at the cafeteria at my office. By the time I get to the bagel line, my garlic bagel is already in the toaster. I walk up to the register with my bagel and beverages already in a paper bag, and they have me rung up already. Kinda sad.

We go to the diner, the drinks are on the table. They dont even SEAT us. Its just, you know where to go :lol: (actually, the man I after is there :kiss: but I dont think he knows Im alive...well he knows Im alive, after all, hes been to the house, but he doesnt KNOW Im alive if you catch my thread drift here
) Its sad, actually, because I know WAAAYYY too much about the place and how it functions! Man I For brings back souveniers for my mother from his vacations :lol: In fact, tomorrow is our regular waitress's birthday...gotta get something.... :lol:Oh, its the same at the pizza place and at the Chinese restaurant (General Tso, not breaded, spicey, with brown rice. If I forget to say not breaded or brown rice, Margaret, the waitress says "You want no bread, right?")
