Where do you keep your laptop while at Disney?

Most rooms come with safes, and while most use it to store jewelery and stuff, I would think if it's not a large laptop you could probably store it in there. If it's a large laptop, perhaps stick it in the bottom drawer of the dresser, mouse cleaning, I don't think, is allowed to open drawers while individuals occupy the rooms...

Mine sits plugged in and connected to the internet on the table/desk in the room.

Never had an issue.

Simple, I don't bring one. This is vacation so I get away from all work gadgets, PC's, laptops and all bussiness men and women. I am in Disney looking to relax , having fun and act like a kid again.

I do the same as MontyMon. Mine stays plugged in on the desk. My DH puts his in his laptop bag and in the suitcase b/c he does not use but once or twice while we are there. We use mine more - photopass pics, uploading and backing up our day of pics, posting on the boards, etc.

I have never had an issue.

I considered this line of thought, but I still usually bring mine on vacation - any kind of trip- so that I can download pics from my camera to my computer at least once a day. Hopefully, my notebook will fit in the safe...I tend to be a bit paranoid about these things. :lookaroun

I've always done the same, but I won't after what happened last time. It was just our second day at POP, and we returned to the room after a day at AK. My laptop was UPSIDE DOWN and ON THE FLOOR!!!!! It came on, but it was making an awful "clacking" noise that wouldn't stop, and was very slow.

Long story short, we called the desk, the resort manager came to our room, the next day we returned to the room to find a note from him saying that our maid admitted to accidentally knocking it over.

In the end I was reimbursed, but from now on....my laptop stays hidden!

The laptop I travel with is expendible... I've had it for years and it has nothing on it that isn't either backed up or non-essential. If what happened to you happened to me, I probably wouldn't even call the desk.

If I have to bring a laptop I keep it in my bag in the closet, which is closed. Most safes are too small I've seen even for my 13" MBP, and it's not sitting out for incidental theft. The cleaning staff would have to open the door, open my backpack, then remove it, instead of it just hopping off the table.

But I have a phone that does everything my laptop would require me to do on vacation so I just use that instead.

Where do you store your laptop while visiting WDW? Just trying to figure out the different options.

Thanks!

At home? :D Seriously, my husband travels with his laptop all the time (I don't like it, can you tell by my response?). We leave ours in the room and have never had a problem. If you are nervous, lock it up in your luggage or use the safe if it is big enough.

While we're on the subject of laptops and the internet, don't you all think it's about time Disney had wireless internet installed in the rooms? I hate being tethered to a cord. I mean, if the Howard Johnson where you pay $40 a night can do it, Disney should be able to.

I keep it in its bag on the floor under the table. I don't want it getting knocked off the table or anything. But it's clearly a laptop, and it's never been moved from that spot when I get back from the room

Thanks for the responses. This is my DS18's that he just got for a graduation present. So, he's bringing it for the 10 hour drive down to pass the time. :dazzle: I think locking it in one of the suitcases sounds like a good idea. If it was for work, it would definitely be staying home. If we didn't use our cell phones to split up and then relocate, we'd leave them off.
