Where can I find a history of WDW parking fees?

I have a parking receipt from summer 1976 - $0.50. Yes, 50 cents. I'll scan and post if I get a chance. And no, it isn't $14 today just because of inflation.....do the math. $$$$$$ :drevil:

I have a parking stub from 83' and it was $1. If I did some digging, I might find more old parking tickets (I save all that stuff)

Thats cool to do. I had save all my tickets from sporting events growing up and I am amazed at the ticket prices.

You are right. Adjusting for inflation that would be the same as $1.96 today.

Adjusting for inflation that would be the same as $2.24 today.

Yep...huge cash cow for Disney. Usually stay in the resorts and use Disney transportation but in one recent year we stayed off property and drove - well let's say I was pretty shocked at the price to park.

Still cheaper than parking for, say, an NFL game, as I'm sure someone else would point out if I didn't. Same for hot dog, soda, etc. prices.

But Disney will catch up before long at the rate they're going.

I don't think its the cash cow people would like to think it is. It costs a lot of run the Disney Transit. People who are self-parking are helping give resort guests a free ride...

I'm pretty sure the transportation benefits have been added into the resort costs already. Those who are self-parking are having a few things happen.

1. They're being incentivized to stay at a Disney Resort next time where they can park for free or take the transportation.

2. Helping to raise profits for Disney.

Absolutely - couldn't have said it better. People believing otherwise are disillusioned.

So they must have decided to do this years later after 1976 when, according to this reasoning parking would have been $4.00 instead of the .50 cents that they actually charged. Just sayin.....

More of a benefit than EMHs. I did the quick math, and the parking fee makes comparing on and off property pricing not so obvious. IF you go to the parks every day of your trip, then you have to add the parking savings to the cost of the room. ie, Pop Century rack rates are $82 per night during value season. So in order to stay off site I would need to look at it as $67 per night plus parking. Much harder for the off site to compete at that rate.

(In my case, paying rack rate, deducting in parking, and then deducting the savings from free dining, it would take an offsite hotel to PAY ME $36 per night to stay off property and break even)

I don't think I follow. In 1976, there was JUST the Magic Kingdom. How high do you think transportation costs were for that? In addition, it wasn't until Eisner came into the picture in the 80's that ticket prices were increased and adjusted to properly cover the costs of the resort. There is a reason WDW was on the verge of bankruptcy up to that point...
