Based on my deep knowledge of this project, in about 2 or 3 month, you know that Disney loves to build thing fast....NOT:hammer: :hammer:

Wasn't it supposed to be a clone of the Matterhorn? I don't know, I'm behind on these things. :(

Yea, I'd say 2005 too. After seeing what is supposed to be a model at intercot (I think phenix posted a link directly to this photo in the other Forbidden Mountain thread), it won't be easy to "slap" this one together. However, Disney is the master at building mountains (BTM, SplashM, Matterhorn, Gizzly peak at DCA and the mountain at DisneySeas comes to mind) so at least they've developed a way to build mountains. Just not this one yet ;)

I can't remember where I saw this, but Imagineers have developed a machine that bends metal into what they want using smaller models. This allows them to form the "steel cage" that will make-up the "innards" of the mountain.

I can't wait to see this mountain begin to take shape. Hopefully a portion of the "cage" will be up when I go down for Christmas this year.

Itwas on Travel Channel's secrets on the imagineers. Hopefully this ride is going to open as soon as possible. The next couple years are looking pretty good for the world! M:S, then philarmagic, then FM, then Gemini. Man, there forking out the dough to turn this place around! (hopefully it works!)

Now, is the ride going to feature Yetis or Dragons?
I want Dragons and I believe something bad about Yetis.

Don't know. However, considering Micheal Eisner said it will deal with Mt. Everest, I am led to leaning towards Yetis.

Who knows if Dragons will ever come to AK (I still think they are in the plans somewhere way down the road), but by not making just one attraction that has Dragons, it keeps alive the possibility that, one day, an entire LAND can be dedicated to Dragons and such (as originally proposed for AK).

To get back on topic, the area where this ride is to go is already cleared, correct? (correct me if I'm wrong...I just figured they were using one of the already cleared areas for this attraction). If this is the case, and they already know how this mountain will look, they could begin laying down its initial supports immediately and certainly have the "cage" up by the holidays, with the ride then opening in early 2005. Besides the rumored backwards section of the track, and the LSM/LIM lift hill and breaks (not a LSM/LIM launch, just a lift hill like on California Screamin', something that this coaster will almost certainly have...don't want any clicking on an outdoor coaster...), this isn't too high tech of a coaster (tempted to believe this will be an Intamin-AG coaster)--certainly nothing that hasn't been done, within reason, before. Therefore, it would be moderately easy to build the mountain and the coaster--it's the theming that will hold this ride up (assuming/hoping this will utilize Audio-Animatronics). Regardless, just look at Disney's California Adventure's Tower of Terror--it is going up quite fast. If they really want to, they can have this ride up within two years, which would CERTAINLY be fantastic for 50 Years of Magic. Imagine if they open this and Time Racer (and Soarin *crosses fingers*) for the 50th...that would be MY idea of a quality celebration...now, if only the Resort celebrating its 50th would hurry up and finalize plans...

Actually, AK did have a dragon, and it breathed fire and smoke.

Really? I didn't know that. I know that they had a rock formation that had fire coming out of it during the boat trip around (what is now called) Discovery River. I remember a lot of people thought that it was to represent a dragon, but I never saw a Dragon myself.

Of course, I only rode this "ride" twice, once during the previews before the official opening and another time after it had turned into something like the Radio Disney Cruise (I could be wrong about the name).

I know there was an Iguanadon in the water at one point. Was there also a dragon?

I think they should reopen this boat ride again. Put the Dino back, put a dragon in, and take expeditions out to this new mountain!

yea, i actually enjoyed the boat ride; it was just a nice relaxing little thing to do, and it killed some time [because everyone knows you can experience the entire AK and still have some time left over before closing! :animwink:

and yes- they used to have a "dragon" while on the boat ride, but you never saw an actual dragon, it was simply a rock formation witch randomly shot out balls of fire.

-oh yea does anyone remember those gysers they had going too? they were pretty neat.

-but to get back on track; GO FORBIDDEN MOUNTAIN! WOHOO!

Okay - lol - ya' caught me on the dragon. I did make the post "tongue-in-cheek".

Back on topic, 2005 sounds very realistic for the new mountain. We have two new attractions opening this year. Nothing on schedule for next year. But there is the possibility of announcements for Project Gemini attractions next year. If they do this, this could mean three new attractions around 2007-2008. This would give us the potential of at least one new attraction every other year. That works for me.
