When will we see Disney's next thrill attraction?

Disney is debuting it's new rehabed Star Tours II next year 2011...so I'm just wondering what will be in store for any of the 4 Disney Parks after Star Tours II opens next year...me saying this is because Star Tours is only a simulator ride but it's not your ordinary simulation ride obviously!!! It feels like your actually flying!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How does Disney do this stuff? Anyways the Indy Stunt Show is been around for 21 years..because it celebrated it's 21st birthday this year I heard? And Epcot has yet to have another thrill ride since Test Track....and Animal Kingdom I don't know what is next for them since Everest opened in 06'. Beastly Kingdom? I'm hearing a new Journey to the Center of the Earth ride? I'm also hearing that at the Studios after Star Tours 2..what's next? Well I heard a Monsters Inc. ride. Well so much for that...why not a Indiana Jones Adventure bring that to Disney World!!!!!! An Indy ride would attract so many people to the park..and not make it the disneyland version or tokyo disney copy of course...something totally different like a new hybrid of Indiana Jones Adventure thrill!!!!!!!!!!!!

You forgot about Mission: Space and Soarin' being added to Test Track (several years after Test Track).

At the Magic Kingdom, there is reportedly a mandate to not add any more thrill rides. The potential Snow White ride may be zippy, but not "thrilling". At EPCOT, we haven't heard rumors of any thrill rides being added. The Studios, which seems to be thrill ride central, may have the Monsters Inc. coaster being added in a few years down the road. The Indiana Jones Adventure has been discussed but apparently nothing serious has surfaced yet. The Animal Kingdom has a few concepts for the Camp Minnie-Mickey/Beastlie Kingdomme area, but I'm not sure which one they picked. I had read that BK is out of the cards.

Do you think it's impossible for a new type of Indiana Jones Adventure to make it's way to the Hollywood Studios one day at Walt Disney World? And if you had to pick out one park to get it's next thrill ride attraction at Disney what would it be next? Animal Kingdom I think should go for Journey to the Center of the Earth. And I really think Epcot could use another thrill ride..maybe finally like a water ride...a water flume ride would be cool...or a raft rapids ride into space!!!! Since it would be in Future World..not World Showcase of course.

To be honest I don't think we'll another one until 2020. Disney doesn't like to make thrilling attractions for some reason :(.

It's a shame because they do a good job with them.

I know I will be flamed but I feel Epcot could use a roller coaster somewhere.

what are the possibilities though of an Indiana Jones Adventure possibly replacing the Indy Stunt Show??? I've been to Disney 3 times and the stunt show spectacular for some reason is always exciting and never get's old to this day!!!!!!!!!!!! Animal Kingdom has to have something else in store thrill wise now since EVEREST has shown good attendence from guests. Like Journey to the Center of the Earth...to start fresh for Beastly Kingdom...then they can start on BK itself for the new land.

IJA, probably never. DHS might get their next thrill from a Monsters Inc coaster somewhere before 2014 when Monsters Inc 2 comes out.

And DAK probably will get nothing for a long while. BK is probably dead and JTTCOTE rumor is probably long gone too. Sorry.

I remember reading an article a couple years ago that said a lot of theme parks (Disney included) were shifting their focus away from thrill rides and more toward family oriented things. This was because the demographic that is drawn to a park for thrills is generally not the demographic that spends a lot of money on merchandise and food. Not sure how accurate that is, but it seems to make sense.

We throw the term thrill around a lot but forget what is thrilling for one is not thrilling to another. I think Disney has moved too far away from immersive dark ride type of attractions that stimulate the mind and imagination. Too much focus on stimulating the glands that produce adrenaline.

So wait you think disney should only build boring rides and not thrill rides? I mean what should they build another "Its a Small World"?

People pay thousands of dollars for a disney vacation and to come to the parks and be bored by rides like GMR is not good. It is sad that there is only maybe 4 thrill rides at Disney. Imagine how much more money Disney would make and then invest into WDW if they had more thrill rides. More thrill rides=less people visiting Universal=more money to invest into WDW.

Do you seriously mean so suggest that any attraction which is not a thrill ride is boring? Seriously? You really think the Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and kilimanjaro Safaris (to name but three examples) are boring?

Consider the audience. Most people who spend thousands to go to Walt Disney World do not do so looking primarily for thrills, but rather to experience attractions which can only be found at Disney. The Great Movie Ride is certainly counted among that group. If you want to argue it needs updating, then you raise a legitimate point (though many or even most of the scenes represent classic films which remain relevant), but just because the ride doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean its boring.

I count 12 or 13 thrill rides in Walt Disney World, depending on how you classify Star Tours and maybe Soarin.

Disney is supposed to be about attractions which appeal to the whole family. The thrill seeker should be able to enjoy a ride - perhaps not their all time favorite, but which still holds interest - with their two year old daughter or sister and their 84 year old Grandmother.

Yep. Your right. Close down WDW. It's boring as heck. No need to entertain countless millions and employ tens of thousands.

No not all rides that are not thrill rides are boring, but for every fun ride like Jungle Cruise you have a couple boring ones like Maelstrom or GMR.

Where do you get 12 or 13 thrill rides? The only thrill rides at Disney are Tower of Terror, Rockn'Rollercoaster(IMO the best ride at disney), Everest, Dinosaur, and Mission Space.

Yep. Your right. Close down Tower of Terror, Rockn'Rollercoaster, Everest, Dinosaur, Mission Space, and Soarin because thrill rides are bad....we need 100 GMRs and 100 Its a Small World
