When was the last time the Observatron rotated at Disneyland?

I'm fascinated by things in the parks that are just sitting there being unused. Does anyone know for sure it was still moving? I found some post online that mentioned the late 2000s, but I figured I'd ask over here and see.

It was suppose to be much more grand with lasers and smoke. It would perform four times nightly and be the Small World clock for Tomorrowland. The budget got cut as usual and it hasn't run since the late 2000s.

I think it looks really good actually. In fact, I prefer it stationary. And if by chance any Disney fans out there don’t like the stationary, deteriorating Observatron, maybe ask yourselves, are you so naive as to think WDI actually has the ability to do anything about this? Their blameless hands are completely tied. Would fixing the Observatron offer any ROI for The Walt Disney Company? You know the answer. So there’s really nothing to discuss here. So let’s not even discuss it. The philosopher kings who run Disney have decided to leave the Observatron motionless, and we need to accept that. /s
Observatron has reached the final stage of WDI tinkering: the "we botched this so bad that we're going to leave it here for at least 30 years untouched and break something else instead" stage.

I searched around YouTube and couldn't find any videos of it working past 2008, so it working during the 50th seems correct. They gave it a shot of adrenaline that lasted a few years then it came to a creaking halt never to be spun again.

With the final step being:

Let it rot and become obsolete so that when it is replaced with something even more lame, posters can say “It’s better than the (broken/rusted/abandoned) thing that was there before!!!”

Ah, Disney standards….

For some reason I had not noticed until this recent trip that the lanes for rocket rods loading are still up just like they left them.

It’s pretty crazy they can’t at least put up some stationary peoplemover cars to make the track look a bit more alive.

I think there was an idea during Seasons of the Force to put some droids up there. They of course cheeped out on it.
