When was the last time the Mad Hatter Tea Cups were refurbished?

I haven't gone on these in a few years and never really "paid attention" to it when walking by,etc.... But on my recent trip it looked as if the ride was kind of lacking in paint/upkeep. The floor seemed very faded and overall didn't look too good.

I remember reading that Disneyland has limited the spinning on their cups, is it the same for WDW? It didn't seem like it, but I was just wondering.

I would think that they get a fresh coat of paint every couple of years or so, but I could be wrong. On a side note....I really like the DL version of the cups better.....its outside in a garden setting if I recall correctly.

good question, i noticed it never really had that nice clean look to it, but i very rarely go on the tea cups. that kind of spinning makes me sick to my stomach. my and my friends were at a local fair, and i made a bet that they couldnt get me sick. we went on all sorts of fair rides then we went on the dang teacups... i almost:hurl:

Not 100% sure, but I believe the version at WDW pretty much has to have a roof due to the frequency of rain in Florida.

I do agree that the one in DL looks more like the Tea Party in Alice in Wonderland with the outside garden setting.

WDW`s originally had no roof, but the Floridian climate made it necessary:

Wow, the toad building looks rather out of palce and ugly in that photo.

Interesting how much more magical the area seems today than it did back then, huh? I guess all the complaints about "losing the magic" is not quite as valid when you see that picture. Edit: I'm not saying that you complain, but there are a big group of folks that tend to complain about every paint scratch.

I'm sure the cups will get a fresh coat of paint in the near future.

I don't know if that's quite a fair statement. It could go the other way in that I will GUARANTEE you those cups, that wall, etc. would have few if any flaws visible, and that there would ALWAYS be an attraction operating or at least being built behind that wall. So, I guess it depends on what is "magical."

i know that when i worked at the magic carpets of aladdin, i was told that for every carpet flying, there's one backstage that is painted, and ready to go out, and was supposed to be changed out every few months, to keep it fresh... and they were also there as backups... i was told that dumbo and teacups were the same way, and never questioned it, because you always see dumbo and teacup cars behind the 20K building, .........BUT... ask me how many times i saw a carpet get changed out in my 6 months of working there... :animwink:

That's before the ENCHANTED GROVE was added! Originally that started out as one of those "drawing" stands where you could get yourself as a cartoon. Eventually it turned into the eatery it is today, home to the DELICIOUS vanilla ice cream and strawberry sorbert! BEST DESSERT EVER!

Those are very good, however I prefer the similar orange and vanilla swill in Adventureland.

I take it the answer rhymes with nero.

you know what though, in all honesty, there might not be 16 extra carpets waiting in the wings, because i never saw them with my own eyes. i do remember them bringing a purple one out though, to replace a defective one for a few days... so i kind of lied... haha. :drevil:
