I would like some opinions on when the best time of the year to go the WDW is, i've been twice and both times in July and the crowds are insane and heat makes it a little hard to line up for an hour for attractions.

although no expert...For years we have gone in Sept, and Oct and the crowds used to be nothing, over the years it has gotten more crowded for a lot of reasons. Although it is still mild compared to summer. I hear that if there is not a special event like Jersey Week, week November is great. Oh and avoid all holidays. Actually I am sure one of the vets will post a link to a sight that ranks the peak seasons.

I'd go mid-October every year if I could. I went July this year and it was the first time in about 10 years I had gone over the summer. Yes it was alot more crowded, but I loved that the parks were open so late. It gave us time to go back for a swim/nap in the afternoons. If you go in the fall the parks aren't open as late and we feel if we go back to the hotel it's wasting precious time. BUT I'll take the less crowded time over the hours.

Jan & the first week of Feb are usually a really great low crowd time. The weather can be a little chilly, but I see you're from way up north, so Florida's cold weather probably wouldn't bother you at all! October is a great time to go too...

I hear the second two weeks of january are a great time to visit, and I visited in the first week of December 5 years ago, and the crowds were miniscule. We usually have to go in March/April due to Spring break, which I really don't suggest, the crowd level is high, but it's the only time we can get off and go.

Also take a look at the chart Vernonpush posted.

We love going during the last week of December and first week of January. The atmosphere and decorations are amazing, the weather is comfortable if you don't like the summer heat, and the crowds start to decrease as you move into January. If you really don't like crowds, starting Jan. 1st or so still allows you to see many of the Christmas decorations, and by mid January, the number of people has dropped significantly.

Visit time.

As a former Magic Kingdom C/M and a current guest having been to WDW more than 30 times, the absolute best time in my exp. is the middle of Jan. right after the marathon.
Hope this helps.

The first two times we went was in early October and we loved it, not that crowded, actually and still warm. Though the second time was over the Columbus day weekend and we found it more crowded. Because of a change with my job, we can't go that time of year so last year and this year did end of November and Beginning of December and found it to be great both tempeture wise and crowd wise. Also all the Christmas Decorations are up too, which is a real nice benefit.

I've decided to change my mind. I've been talking to my sister today about when to go in 2008. We had first said October, but after a very long discussion and looking into prices and hours. I think we are going to go in the summer. The hotels are a little cheaper and there are more park hours. Everyone here (including me) normally says avoid the summer, but you have to weigh all your options and we think we'll be better off going when the parks are open later. We'll be traveling with at least 2 toddlers so the nap/swim break will be beneficial. If the prices stay about what they are in 2007 we can go for 8 nights in July for what we'd pay for 6 in October.

I think September is ideal. Low crowds, warm temps so you can do water parks and if they offer the Free dining plan you can save a bundle.
