When to go in December

I am thinking about a second trip to WDW. I want to go in December to see the worls all decked out for Christmas. What week is the best? I HATE CROWDS. Someone said there is a cheerleading thing during December...I want to avoid this at all costs.

The second week of December would probably be your best bet. The first 2 weeks are great as far as crowds (with exception to the weekend that they are filming the Christmas parade....avoid MK at all costs!!), but I think the cheerleaders are there the first week. Once you hit the third week, schools are out and the crowds increase.

You can go either the 2nd or 3rd week and you will have no problems. I go at that time every year, and it always varies by a week here and there according to work schedule...I have never seen big crowds either of the weeks. Schools don't get out until the 3rd week pretty much anywhere this year. The crowds remain somewhat moderate until the 23rd/24th when it really becomes crowded. Don't worry too much about the dates - the ones you have picked sound great.

Thanks that seals it for me

I would suggest you to go right after Thanksgiving. Once the crowds from Thanksgiving weekend are gone, the park is already decorated, all the shows are running, and the crowds are normal. After that, it picks up and starts getting impossible! ;)

if you truely want to go when there are no crowds, you have to wait till after the christmas parade taping and the Pop Warner weekend is over. Once that happens, it's a great time to go. Up until about the 21st or so, when the christmas day crowds start to roll in... if nothing else, just make sure you don't go when they are taping the parade. The move the MK christmas tree... they have Main Street blocked for most of the morning/afternoon.. etc..

For the past five years December has been CROWDED! I would suggest a trip around the middle of November (after Soap event at MGM.) And completely miss Jersey Week. You'll get wonderful weather, with very little crowds, and there will be some Christmas Decorations. Plus at Epcot they have the F&W. DH and I went to November a few years back and it was absolutely perfect.

We were there during the first week of December last year and other than the weekend they were filming the parade, the crowds were very small. It was the best trip we have ever hard as far as crowds go. The craziness starts once schools start letting out.

I was in WDW in the first week of December back in '01, it was excellent. You get all the decorations, but no crowds. However, Pop Warner football was down at this time, so I would probably recommend going the second week. Just stay as far away from Christmas day as you possibly can.

That is the dates we are going. Thanks for the good info. I hope we made a good choice on the dates. My birthday is the 7th, but I could not get time off from work on that date but it is close enough. I am just glad to be going again.

I'm planning on going Dec. 5th-9th this year. I doubt I will change those dates as Dec 5th is my girlfriend's birthday (just like Walt's) and I plan on taking her to stay at AKL to celebrate.

But I see the Pop Warner Super Bowl is Dec 1st-8th. So how will this impact our trip? And where will the groups of kids in jerseys be the worse? Any certain parks we should stay away from on certain days? I'd expect these groups largely stay at the Pop Century and AllStars. Is that right?

Also, does anyone know what day they'll be taping the Christmas parade? Does that normally happen on a weekend or weekday?

Thanks in advance for any info.

If you go to the parks where the Pop kids are going, I would suggest heading towards another park.
