When to do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party...?

Advice on what to do:

My next vacation to WDW is Dec 15-21 during free dining. I am deciding if I should do Mickey's very Merry Christmas party, and if so, if I should risk purchasing tickets for the day I land on the 15th...Although I have never had a delay in flying to Florida before, there is always that small chance, and the tickets are nontransferable or refundable.

Do you think I should buy tickets for the 15th or should I play it safe and go on the 17th or 18th? Also for those who have gone, do you think the Christmas party is worth it?? How so? I love parades and fireworks and considering there are special event ones, that's pretty enticing for me!

I have also been to the Osborne light spectacle a few years ago and I loved it, any news or rumors that this event may be back this year 2015??? Thanks everyone!

The party does not officially start till 7pm but you can use that ticket to get into the park at 4pm. I plan it for my first day of vacation. That way I do not pay for a park ticket that day just use the event ticket. Half or more of a full day ticket would be wasted with travel and check in time anyway..

I guess it depends on what time your flight arrives, how much time you have spent traveling, and if you would be to tired to enjoy it. I know that we get up at 4 am on our travel days out there, and we are usually pretty tired by 8 or 9, so for me it would be a waste to do day of.

parade is definitely worth it. as stated above you can get to the park starting at 4. The whole place done up with snow and the parade itself is must-see IMO.

as for what day you go, i'd bet all of those days eventually sell out so crowd-wise it will be similar regardless of what you choose. Doing it same day as travel would leave me pretty worn out so i'd probably pick one of the days later in the week.

The parties typically end several days before Christmas, which will be the time attendance starts to increase. So, as @Tom 55 suggested, I would go your arrival day at WDW (provided you are arriving in the AM or early afternoon). That way you don't have to purchase a park ticket for your first day. And you will still be able to select fast passes for 4:00pm to 7:00pm. There are no fast passes after 7:00pm, since the park is closed to those without a ticket to the party. And yes, go. I went last year and had a lot of fun.

I'm debating whether to spend the money on this. I just purchased the Annual Pass, since I'm doing two trips to WDW, one in November and a big blow out in April. My point is why spend money on this. We did this last year and my kids pooped out fairly early in the evening. I'll have to run it by boss-lady and she what she has to say. I will say this though. It may be nice to have a MK be less busy and jump on the rides with shorter lines.

Osborne lights are supposed to be back for 2015:
This is the major reason why we're doing an extended weekend trip in November. My wife was really bummed out she missed the lights let year. We got out of our dinner reservations 5 minutes before the park closed and was unable to enjoy the lights. When I saw that they may not have the lights back for some time thanks to park refurbishments we rolled the dice for this year when I saw that Disney pulled the building permits to hang the lights.
