Hi everybody!
Been busy these last few days finally getting to the point where the boom is mounted on the boom support. In order to facilitate the transfer of electrical current into the boom structure, I needed to build what is called a Commutator. It allows the flow of current between rotating joints. Mine is very crude! Simply 2 copper tube pieces mounted to the support shaft, and then 2 armatures(sp?) which rest on these copper pieces, as they turn. The electricity will be needed to power the 2 motors in the boom, which drive the bogeys around the boom. This is VERY bare bones, as you can see wire and all sorts of stuff all over the place. It will be cleaned up and looking neat when complete.
Thanks for looking!
