When are Christmas decorations up?

We are trying to plan a trip this November to take advantage of free dining, maybe the last day of Epcot's Food & Wine festival, and the Christmas decorations. By what date are the Christmas trees, amazing gingerbread displays, and lights on the castle usually up at the resorts and parks? When are the Osborne Christmas lights up? We are taking two friends who have never been to WDW before, so I want to make sure I time it so they can see it all.

Christmas Decorations around the resorts go up slowly (as a whole) during the beginning/middle of November. Everything is finished by Thanksgiving. If you're looking to go for Food and Wine, you likely won't get to see much of the resort Christmas decorations. You may be able to plan it if you're staying long enough to catch the very end of food and wine and the very beginning of the park's Christmas decorations.

Going off of last years information:

Food and Wine Ends: November 11th
MVMCP begins: November 8th
Osborne Lights begins: November 8th
Candlelight/HATW begins: November 29th

Hope that helps!

In addition to CaptainShortty's info, I think the Castle Dreamlights typically start a couple days before the first MVMCP.

Thank you both! We went on 2010 for Christmas and the day we resort hopped to see the gingerbread displays and trees was a highlight. Any idea when the resorts will be decorated and have the gingerbread displays in place?

We are looking at potential vacation dates. I am wondering if there is any official schedule of when gingerbread will be up at each resort. I'm afraid if we choose Nov. 10-17 that we might not get to see the amazing gingerbread creations at the deluxe resorts and at the American Adventure in Epcot.

Last year there was no gingerbread house in the American Adventure pavilion. The Epcot gingerbread display was in The Land. Wonder where it will be this year?

That's too bad. We loved the one at American Adventure in 2010. Was the one at the Land just as wonderful? We'll be too early to see the Epcot Christmas storytellers. Are there any other cool Christmas things in and around WDW/DTD in mid-November?

They go up very quickly. By Veterans Day just about all the decorations are up. We went up in 2011 for the Veterans Day Weekend and everything looked like it was up including the Osborne Spectacle of Lights.

Just a heads up...a couple of years ago, someone informed me that November 16th & 17th were the usual days for the resort decorations to go up. We were there over these dates in 2012 and minus a few details, this was spot on. I think the Yacht Club train was already up when we arrived on the 15th, but the resort decorations arrived late at night on the 16th and were up by the morning of the 17th. On the 16th, we saw the gingerbread carousel at BC and the gingerbread hearth at BW being built. We were in the Contemporary several times...saw some of their decorations that trip, but I don't remember seeing their gingerbread that trip and I know for certain that the big mouse ears were not up on the Contemporary during the course of that stay. I don't think we made it into the GF until the 20th, but the tree was definitely up and the gingerbread house was built. The parks decorate much earlier...with the exception of the MK tree which won't go in until after the parade filming.

Just booked a trip for the first week of December for the Christmas decorations ourselves. This will be the 2nd trip for my kids but first one there with both sets of g-parents. We're not telling them until the morning we leave so they'll be stoked.
