When another Guest ruins an experience/attraction for you

That's a good way to potentially lose some fingers.

I cringe when I see someone dipping their hands into Splash Mtn or Pirates or IASW. I don't think people realize how heavy those boats actually weigh when fully loaded. We're talking half a ton or even 3/4 of a ton on a Splash Mtn log and probably close to 2 full tons on a fully loaded Pirates boat. Someone could lose an arm or hand probably. The worst part is I've seen parents just look on as their kids do it like nothing is dangerous. SMH

Common sense seems to get thrown right out of the window at Disney parks apparently.

Exactly. It might look like there's nothing in the water, because that's how Disney wants it to look. But I can't imagine how much mechanics are down there for the tracks of rides like SM, PoTC, JC, IASW, etc.

In May, we were sitting watching FoTLK. Mommy & Grandma behind us had 2 little kids, who both did NOT want to sit and watch. Little kids kicking my seat, screaming, throwing themselves on the ground... Mommy telling the kids a bunch of empty threats that they obviously saw through. They started to SCREAM and finally a CM came over to tell them that if they were not going to be quiet & respectful that they would be asked to leave. Mommy huffed under her breath how stupid that was. They left 2 minutes later.

I don't get it... please stop making your children sit still when they want to go run and play. I'm sorry if you want to see the show, but screaming children ruin it for everyone else around you. Bothers me so much

Yeah. I mean those guide rails and grates underneath the water's surface and along the walls on those attractions are re-enforced steel with concrete behind them. So you take a boat that weighs anywhere from 800-3300 lbs and is moving 3mph and smashes into that metal...a limb or a finger is going to get mangled or severed in most cases. It's like putting your hand or arm between a giant press. So scary.

A few weeks ago we were on Start Tours and just as it starts, a guy takes out his cell phone. I'm assuming to take a picture or record. A voice comes on, over the ride narration, "Please put away your phone". He didn't...They said it again...nothing. Everyone then starts telling the guy to "Put your phone away" in a not so nice way. He finally got it and did put it away, but we missed the entire first scene.

As we exit, a few of us louder riders were not so quietly mentioning about this guy ruining the ride. We get to the hallway and he didn't speak English. So I guess that's why he didn't put it away right away.

That seems to be an ongoing trend in everyday life. I see the parents who are driving down a heavy trafficked highway on cell-phones with kids in the back of their cars. Common sense is leaving us.

This one time I was cut off by a woman driving/texting/not realizing that she almost hit me. Luckily I was watching her out of the corner of my eye and hit my brakes on time for her to swerve in front of me. No blinker, no signals. Nothing. I got soooo angry...that is until this little girl popped up from the back seat (while her mother was still at the wheel looking down at her phone), looked out the back window and mouthed the words at me "I am so sorry!"

The little girl had more common sense than her own mother.

I'm one of those who wants EVERYONE at the park to have the best possible experience. So when somebody is rude or distracting, I feel all protective of the experience of everyone else around!

My most irritating experience was on Pirates of the Caribbean. It was when 7dmt was new and everyone rushed to ride it at rope drop. We decided not to follow the herd, and headed to a deserted Adventure land, and to one of our favorite rides, POC.
We were the first ones to ride and got into the boat. They held the boat for a family of 3, mom, dad, and appx 6 or 7 y/o son. Well,we started out with the mom talking on her cell phone. I thought, fine, she will put it away soon. Wrong!!!! She continued to talk through the entire ride!!!! She was discussing insurance with whomever she was speaking too for the Entire Ride. Meanwhile, the little boy was screetching (SP) yep, loud squeaky nails on the chalk board type of screaming for the entire time too. No One paid him any attention. Dad just sat there and stared ahead, mom continues to talk about insurance, and the kids continues to scream for the entire ride. We were so disappointed, after being elated at being the first to ride. We rode the ride another time and it was fine, but I was a bit PO'd at the crazy family. I did give her the evil eye, and the dad, but they ignored it. I was half afraid to say anything, because they probably would have throw me overboard. Grrrrrr.......................still makes me mad to this day. Why ride the ride if you are going to talk, zone out, or scream while ignoring the ride and each other?

Went on it's a Small World and unfortunately we were in the rear of the boat and there was a guy in the front who had not used deodorant or showered. The smell was over powering; could not wait for it to end. My young boys at the time kept saying what's that smell. I don't think the guy got the message as he spoke a foreign language. Redid its a Small World later in the day much better

I have had to redo the ride myself for two Asian girls that stunk. And then another day when there was a whiny obnoxious kid behind me complaining about it.

My daughters and I were waiting in line for POTC and there was a bit of a delay. So as we were waiting, this boy(about 5-6 years old) kept ramming into us. He was frustrated about the wait and had to use the restroom. So instead of his parents taking him out( or using the toilet before you get in line) he got all worked up and started to amp it up by head butting his mom in the gut. Well when that didn't get him what he wanted he turned on me. I am not your Mama and would never allow that behavior out of anyone, my kids included. So I saw him coming and moved out of the way and he smacked into the wall. I told the parents that if he goes for me again that I am calling security. They never said a word to him about hitting them or others. I mean, what the heck kind of parent lets their kid hit other people and not say a dang thing?

We went on Kilimanjaro Safari and as usual, we were grouped into our own row. We are a family of three. The jeep pulled up and the gate opened and we boarded. A pair of men had been directed to go where we had been standing. They saw the gate was still open so, one guy got in and shoved into me so hard. Then his friend got in. They were two men of considerable avoirdupoids. I told them that they were supposed to wait for the next jeep, but they just ignored me.

So not only am I crammed in a row with two extra people, these two dudes are man spreading. The guy sitting next to me was practically in my lap. Our skin was in contact at every point possible and I was livid. At first, I was sitting with my legs uncrossed, but together at the knees and ankles. Then, I crossed my legs to create a bit of space between us, but he interpreted that as more space he felt entitled to invade. No matter how much I retracted my body and limbs, he seemed to expand into my personal space. I was really irate that this guy made no attempt to contain himself and his sweaty body was touching mine.

It felt like the longest ride ever. I closed my eyes and did some deep breathing. It took every scrap of self-control I possessed not to punch this guy in the knackers. As soon we stopped to get out of the jeep, I stood up before he did and made sure my foot was on his when I stood up.

I had a few experiences come to mind. About a year ago I was on the Safaris in DAK. The first time the truck stopped for pictures, a lady stood up to get a better shot. The driver asked her to sit down. She didn't. He asked her again to sit down. She didn't. I finally had had enough, and yelled "SIDDOWN!" She heard that, and sat down for the rest of the ride.

Once on Spaceship Earth, a young couple was loading with a little boy who was terrified of the dark. A CM, trying to help, gave him a flashlight. Well, this ruined the entire attraction, as this kid's light swooped from side to side. I don't really blame the kid, nor do I blame the CM for trying to help. But the idiot parents who forced this little boy on a ride that he clearly didn't want to ride? THAT'S who I blame!

Then there was the time in The American Adventure, where a dad sitting near me thought that this was the perfect time to educate his son on all details of American history. Just a non-stop patter of "see, there were these three ships, and they got to America, and they formed a town, and then blah blah blahde blah". Ruined the show!

On Carousel of Progress, a baby was crying loudly, and drowning out the show's dialogue. The parents, probably foreigners who didn't speak English, eventually got up and stood in the back of the theater, and then this cast member's voice came through over the speakers, also silencing the show, telling everyone to please sit down. Well, the parents didn't understand, so the cast member made the announcement again. Finally, another cast member opened the door at the back of the theater and let them out. But it was too late to enjoy the show by this time.

There was another time when I thought the people trying to correct the "rude" people were ruder than even they were. I was at a Christmas show in Tomorrowland on metal benches, and some Asian tourists were in front of me. One especially short one was sitting on top of some sweaters/coats piled up underneath her so she could see better. The tall American guy beside me found this rude and was trying to tell her so, even though it looked to me like he should be able to see above her. I guess they didn't speak our language, because they just blissfully ignored him. Finally, he said, "Go back to your own country!", and he and his female companion left the theater. Who do you think was being ruder?

omg yes...Soarin' - I love this ride and usually only get one shot at it with a FP, since our trips are so short. There were 5 teenage girls sitting in our row who SCREAMED at the top of their lungs every time we soared over a hill, a mountain, a tree...a building, a bird...a dot on the screen...you get the idea.

I hate when people act as if Soarin' is a high speed roller coaster. Oohs, ahs, a loud cheer or applause on something particularly thrilling - fine. Screaming at the top of your lungs at every single thing in the film is totally obnoxious and really killed the immersive experience for everyone who sat near them.

Okay...I feel better now.

We had the same thing happen about 10 years ago but it was on HM. It was the first time our then 4-yo DD was going on the ride. She wasn't afraid of anything at that age. And she had seen videos of HM so she knew what to expect. She was looking forward to riding and wasn't the least bit scared -- not even in the stretching room. We get in our Doombuggy and there are a bunch of teenage girls in the 2 Doombuggies behind us. They started screaming at the top of their lungs as soon as we left the loading area and continued to scream for no reason for almost the entire ride. My DD immediately started crying and saying she was scared and practically crawled in my lap for the rest of the ride.. I tried to calm her but those screaming girls were just too much. I finally snapped and yelled at them to shut up....literally. Someone else clapped for me. They were quiet for about 20 seconds and then continued to scream the rest of the ride. At the end they quickly ran past me while I made a comment about wondering if their parents would be proud of their behavior. My daughter wouldn't even consider riding HM again on that trip. Fortunately we convinced her to try it again on the next trip and she loved it.

Ugh. We had a bunch of teenagers in a boat behind us on Splash Mtn. a few years ago. Several times during the ride, the music would stop and someone would say, "Do not stand up in the boats". It kept happening. Finally, when we were almost finished with the ride, the ride stopped. They once again announced in a slightly more stern voice "Remain seated at all times or you will be escorted from the ride." The kids started cheering and laughing -- as if they were proud of themselves for getting the attention. At that point, a CM came walking over and basically escorted the boat to the unload area. At that point, there was a manager there (shirt & tie) who started talking to the boys as they got off their boat. They literally laughed in his face and told him that he couldn't tell them what to do. Security was waiting for them as soon as we got outside. I suspect they were then escorted out of the park.
