when annual passes start

when do the 1 year start on your annual pass ,when you purchase it on the phone to recieve a voucher, or when you activate it at the park?

When you redeem the voucher at a park for your actual pass, it becomes active then.

My understanding is that this is the case for NEW APs. If you are renewing, it becomes active when you purchase the renewal. My pass is expiring March 3rd. If I renew it before then, my renewal date (for next year) will become the date I purchase it THIS year! If I don't renew it before it expires, I'll have to pay the price for a NEW pass, will get a voucher, and it will be activated when I turn it in at the gate. Sound complicated? It is! In the past, we got a voucher when we renewed, then activated on our next trip (as long as it was within a year) so sometimes could make it last for 18 months...NO MORE! Now I have to calculate when I might be going, and decide which option will cost less in the long run. Also, other posters elsewhere have mentioned that they haven't gotten a reminder when their AP was expiring, so missed the renewal period.
