Wheelchairs and Parades

When we visit my Mom will be in a wheelchair, and she loves the parades. However she couldn't find a balance between being able to see the parades and not wanting to be in anyone's way.

Is there an area for wheelchairs to watch the parades? Can family stay with them?

Thanks,
Shelley

My only advice is to guard the front of your spot. I see people all the time stand right in front of people in wheel chairs. Depending on when you will be going (holiday deco's block some of the view), I would take the ramp (or elevator, I can't remember) up the trainstation at town center and watch the parade and/or fireworks from up there.

Check guidemaps for designated viewing areas.
Ask the cast members for guidance.

Only a certain number of family members can accompany a wheelchair.

I don't know where the spots are at DHS. But at MK, the wheelchair spots are in Main Street (the Hub with the flagpole), castle hub, and Liberty Square (in front of the Bell).

my dad uses a wheelchair. We had no problem with viewing parades or fireworks. There are wheelchair designated areas spread throughout parade routes and for viewing fireworks. The entire family gets to sit there with the w/c bound person. You should have no problem blocking someone else's view. We stood around the w/c, or knelt around it. There is usually plenty of room. If you need help finding a w/c area, just ask a CM. They can point you to the right place. Have fun and don't worry about this.

My grandmother uses a wheelchair when we go to Disney. I know this isn't a parade, but during Illuminations we went to this little area in England. The path is to the right of the fish and chips stand. There are benches along the water's edge. My mom and I sat on the bench and pulled my grandmother's wheelchair up directly behind us. We all had a great view, and no one was able to stand in front of us. I say all of this because there is a designated viewing area for people in wheelchairs near Canada, but your view is greatly obstructed by trees.

As a former CM on the parade at DHS i can confirm the wheelchair viewing at DHS for block party bash is in front of drew carey sounds dangerous and also by the bronze statue of the videographer on hollywood boulevard, near mickey's hat, and they were still in the same place when i was in town a few weeks ago. I recommend geting there 45min - 1hr before during peak periods and 15-30min at slow times.

My fiance also uses a wheelchair and when we watched spectromagic at the kingdom near easter we had to get the about 70 mins before start to get a decent spot on the parade route, and usually needed about 50 min at quieter times. I can't give you any info on the animal kingdom as we have we haven't seen the parade there together yet, but they will have a designated area for wheelchairs, see guidemap or cm's on parade route.

Hope this helps.
