I'm a long time band geek....I was part of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band for 5 years -- we went to bowl games all 5 including the rose bowl twice. So we had to do a 6 mile parade the same day as do a pre-game, halftime, and post-game (5th quarter) show.
But at least we got to perform at DisneyLand
My freshman year in the UW band we traveled over 7000 miles. We performed in Las Vegas and Tuscon that year.
My trips are as follows:
1996:
Las Vegas
Packers vs 49ers - Lambeau Field (Monday Night Football!)
Michigan State
Copper Bowl (Tuscon, AZ)
1997:
Kickoff Classic - NYC
Nortwestern
Minnesota
Packers vs. Cowboys - Lambeau Field (-30 degree on field that day)
1998:
Outback Bowl - Tampa Bay, FL (New Years Day)
Washington D.C. (Wisconsin Sequicentennial celebration)
Michigan
Packers vs. 49ers
1999:
Rose Bowl - Pasadena, CA (New Years Day)
Northwestern
Ohio State
Packers vs. Bears - Lambeau Field
2000:
Rose Bowl - Pasadena, CA (New Years Day)
Michigan
Iowa
Packers vs. Colts - Lambeau Field
Sun Bowl - El Paso, TX
That's just football trips. I've also been a part of free trips to:
Albuquerque, NM (NCAA Basketball Tourney)
Boise, ID (NCAA BB)
Chicago, IL (Big Ten BB)
Grand Rapids, MI (Big Ten Womens BB and NCAA hockey tourneys)
Indianapolis, IN (NCAA Final Four)
Minneapolis, MN (WCHA Final Five)
Milwaukee, WI (WCHA Final Five)
Atlanta, GA (NCAA Womens BB Tourney)
My list of music played in those years numbers well into the thousands. We had a repitoire of 300 songs we knew and randomized for basketball, football, and hockey games.
Here are some of my favorite field shows we did through my years:
Phantom of the Opera
Motown Medley
Miss Saigon
One Hit Wonders
Rock and Roll Gold
The Music Man
Beatles Anthology
Fiddler on the Roof
Les Miserables
Chicago: The Musical (Well before it was a movie)- this was 96-97
