The little nooks scattered around the balconies above the lobby. (Look on the various levels up above the main front entrance) A couple comfy chairs next to a small gas fireplace where you can curl up and read a book, sit and write out postcards or play a game of cards. (If the fire isn't going, there's a switch down near the floor)

And if you need to get some work done while on your trip (or maybe kids who have homework to do?), around the corner from one of the nooks is a library table with plenty of space to spread your stuff out on, and outlets to plug in a laptop.

(I could think of worse places to have to do my homework...) ;)

Everything! We will be staying for the 12th time in September.

We love the pool and slide. Folks say it is small but we love it!!!

The grounds are great at night for strolling.

Apart from the overall feel, my fav things would be the boat ride to MK, the docks for boat rental and the stream that runs from inside the lodge down to the pool.

You will have a great time!

Only 5!?!?! We are staying at the WL in September thank to a great bounce back and I can not wait!! I love walking into the lobby and hearing the music playing and the stream bubbling, walking outside along the pool then through the woods to the dock and then of course there is the beautiful ride to the MK. There is a great pin book at the pin cart in the lobby and Roaring Forks is a great little quick service. if i could afford it I would stay there every single time I go down to WDW. Oh and how wrong is this..... flying over the grand canyon on the way to vegas a few months ago (i still cant believe i vacationed somewhere other than the world) all i could think about was how it reminded me of the fireplace at the WL.... so wrong!

well we are lucky enough to have the Lodge as our home for DVC ... so we stay here pretty much every time. Favorites... the geyser, the animal tracks in the cement, the villas hot tub, the rocking chairs on the verandah, and the whispering canyon for dinner! and best of all ... only 7 days until I get to see them all!!!:sohappy:

Artist Point Restaurant and their planked salmon is wonderful,

Also love the lobby and fireplace, we've stayed a couple times, though not lately since we're DVC at BW

I love the overall General Lodge atmosphere. I especially love the boat ride to MK.
This is always one of my new favorite things to see since joining the DVC.

Stayed there twice last year for the first time.

The Lobby is incredible. The themed decor is very detailed, and it does not stop at the lobby. The outdoor landscaping and themeing are some of the best on property. If you like to take pictures, there are many many great shots available for the taking.

As stated, the boat ride to the MK is great. It combines speed of service with the tranquility of a peaceful cruise.

I am going to go in a different direction here now, and tell you about, well, lets say the things to be aware of, at WL. The counter service there, Roaring Forks, has gotten some negative reviews, mostly based on menu offereings. I would have to agree, it is not an awesome selection. Secondly, the bus service to the other parks can seem extended, as they make stops at other resorts on the way.

Overall, it is wonderful. Have a great time.

The themeing is awesome, right down to the music.

The location.

The boat transportation to MK & CR.

The oppourtunity to be the flag family. Most everyday one lucky family raises the flags atop WL. What an honor!!

WL is one large resort (building). Any ammenity can be accessed without leaving the building - the lobby, giftshop, restaurants, arcade, laundry room, one of those quiet nooks to relax away from your room, etc. No need to go out in the rain to get your refillable resort mug filled, do a load of laundry or have a nice dinner at Artist Point.

The lobby and it's totum poles and fireplace.
The brook rising out of the lobby floor and flowing outside to the pools
Their version of Old Faithful
Whispering Canyon
(Roaring Forks not bad either)
Animal tracks in the walkways
Isolated feeling, especially outside at night.
Wonderful cast members, especially at the pin cart.
Artist Point restaurant
Lobby tour (especially when Christmas tree is not up).
(The hardwood floor design is beautiful)
Basic theme is carried throughout the Lodge and out-buildings beautifully.

Now where to start?

1, The boat ride to MK
2, All the little areas off the lobby, especially the balcony over looking the pool and Bay Lake
3, The little hidden Mickey at WL villas, took ages to find but well worth it
4, The buffalo main and lavender ice cream at Artists point
5, The decor in the rooms and the great views if you're lucky enough to get a courtyard inner facing high floor

If my little boy was answering he would also add the bunk beds and the play area on the beach!

1) The music that welcomes you when you walk into the lobby.

2) Walking to the boat dock early in the morning waiting for the first boat to arrive.

3) Arriving "home" on the boat after dark and walking up the lighted pathway.

4) The arts and crafts/mission-style furniture and decor.

5) Sitting in the lobby and just looking around at the beautiful Lodge.
