What's up with Disney Visa and no WDW offers?

Why can I get 6 different offers from Disney Visa from Disneyland like % off tours and dining, but nothing for WDW?

Come on, if you're not gonna give me any extra benifits, at least bring back the old Disney Club then. Or at last give us some of the same offers you give for Disneyland like the tour and dining discounts.

Ok, done venting... :zipit:

I understand what you are all saying and they are good points. I also know that there are other cards with cash back options. However, for our family, it's like a savings plan and a way to keep our next Disney trip alive for us. We use our Disney card for everything and then pay the balance off each month. It can really add up after a year or so. Since this is all Disney is offering right now, we'll take it and smile. :animwink:

And we're the same way. I use the Disney Card fro just about everything. Gas, food, etc. I hardly use case anymore. I even got a second card for my wife and she useing for just about everything too. Thus the reason we have over $250 in points.

It's just so disheartning to know that it was once so much better than that. That Disney seemed to care and give it's loyal cutomers that extra "magic". Now I feel like just another Joe that they don't care if I buy their product or not. By not offering regular everyday discounts (like tours, room rates, and dining), only giving them out when they want to sell something, I have to ask myself, why do I keep giving them my money?

I'm the customer here, they should have to earn my trust (and my money). And lately, I think they have been taking my trust in them for granted.

Well, here's hoping they offer some kind of spectacular offer for October time frame. 'Cos if they don't, I'm gonna have to start re-thinking the yearly trip, and maybe slow down the number of times I go to once every 5 years of so.

If they want my money, they need to act like they do. Ok, I'll knock off the rant now. Took it further than I though I would. When it comes down to it, I just want to see the Disneyworld I fell in love with give the attention to their repeat and loyal customers come back. I miss that.

I myself don't get annoyed or upset that Disney isn't giving any special "discounts" or perks to cardholders. Nor do I think they are "obligated" to either. You can always find a reason to be ticked off or annoyed at something a company does.

I'm a AP holder but I don't feel like I own the place or deserve special treatment no matter how much money I spend there. It's my choice. If Disney wants to reward me with something, then I'll be happy. But I sure can't hold it against them.

I guess what I'm tring to say was the last bit of my last post.

The company has changed, as companies do, over the years. And in the past a loyal customer could feel good about things like being able to join a special club where you could get extra discounts, newsletters, and all the stuff they used to do.

Now I feel like a number. The dicounts are few and far between, and only show up when Disney wants to push something to get more money. Where before it was a "perk" because you were a member of a special club.

Heck, they just killed off the magazine now. I expect the Rewards Newsletter, wich is mostly adds for them will probebly be gone soon too. I just feel like they used to care, and now they don't.

Some of it is the cost part, but a bigger concern is the loss of being treated as someone who has gone the extra step for them, and they used to go the extra step for you back. They just don't do that anymore in my opinion. I think I have to leap to them now, and that gap just keeps getting wider every year.

I just miss the old Disney, and the magic of treating me like a person, not just a CC number that can give them money. I used to get letters after trips, and other corrispondance about stuff available that would make me want to return and spend my money.

Now I get the same stuff everyone gets. Maybe I don't have a family of 4 who wants to spend $1500 on a vacation. I like staying in the deluxe resorts. Taking tours, and dinning at the $$$ Restaurants. Were are those insentives?

I'm not hopping mad or anything like that. Just more disalutioned than anything else with the whole thing. OK. Done now. I'll shut up now. I'm just re-hashing the same thing. I know that it will never be like the old Disney again...I just wish it could.

I see what you mean. Things change good and bad. I don't question the "little things" like this as much as I used to. Sometimes it really boils down your perception of what has changed and what hasn't. I never know if I'm being too cynical sometimes (on non obvious stuff) so I try to not get all worked up over it.

You get $1 back for every $100 you spend. You have to spend a HUGE amount of money with them to make it worth your while. Heck, dinner at Chef Mickey's would "cost" us about $10000 worth of charges! When you look at numbers like that, it's not worth it.

.

I totally agree that the amount of money you have to spend is ridiculous. I'm not saying it should be 1 point for every $1, but one point for every $10 would be nice. BUT...

If you look at any airline credit card rewards program, you'll see comparable numbers. I saw one card that the smallest amount of points to actually get a ticket was 25,000 on a one point for one dollar scale. That means having to spend $25,000 to get an airline ticket.

If you use the card for all purchases like I know I and I saw a lot of other people do, then once you can cash in the points for say free tickets or free hotel, it's not too bad. Plus the points last for something like 5 years. It's all in your perception of the rewards.

I used to do this when I was working for a company that need me on the road 3 out of 4 weeks a month. I was quickly racking up points, 'cos I was beeing sent on such short notice, the flight costs were full rates.

Got a lot of free flights, hotel stays, etc. Heck, I still have points to this day on a few of the hotel and airline cards I used to use. (I no longer work for that company or do traveling anymore).

Alot of them had 1 point to $10 trade ins too. But I would have never done any of that myself. I only got in them 'cos my company was paying for it.

Exactly--often after I charge something, I'll be like "That's 40 cents to spend in Disney World." This is especially helpful when I end up spending money on some unexpected expense.

I do that too. We recently went through an ordeal with one of our cats. Major vet bills. Unfourtunatly, she was not able to recover, and she passed away. But I will be thinking of fond memories of my kitty when I'm spending points at WDW.

I think I'll buy a picture frame and put her picture in it to remember her by.

Miss my kitty.

Watch the experation date on the Rewards Card (mine was issued for two years). Cash rewards not used when the card expires are lost.

The Rewards Card is a "Cash Card". If a mistake is made and you are charged 2 or 3 times for the same thing you can not dispute the extra charges with Chase. That is why I dumped the card and Chase.

Other Rewards cards give you the same "cash back" and you can use it for anything not just Disney stuff. And as they are credit cards rather than rewards cards you can dispute overcharges.

My final Chase statement highlighted the great free dining with the WDW package open only to Disney Chase Visa card holders. The next day the Mousesavers had the posting and it was open to everyone.

Bye Chase you will not be missed.

1% back toward Disney stuff

You can get 1% of all of your purchases for use toward any Disney stuff. I spend close to $4,000 a month on it for work expenses. (PCs and stuff). I figure I will ahev about $1000 for a trip next spring.

That seems like a discount to me :)

We have had our card since it was first offered. Every month we get a few more 'Disney Dollars' to spend. We still have not spent any. It takes several years before they expire. As long as you don't activate a card, you can keep accumulating them. I think right now it says that 2 will expired in 2008. That gives me several more years to keep racking up points.

I am hoping that by 2008 I will have at least 800 to 1000 that I can use toward a vacation! That would be a nice chunk off a hotel bill!

There is a max limit per calendar year of $75,000 toward points (max 750 points in a calendar year). I don't know if this max is effected by the double rewards they are doing now or not. Most people will not ever spend that much per year, but for those that do use it for buiseness use, you could.

Other CC with 1% or more rewards usally don't have a cap on them. Again, this will not effect most owners of the card, but for those it does, it's annoying.
