The Disney Club thing makes sense, since they could use your membership number to identify you. Otherwise you'd just be "The Smiths from Washington, DC," which doesn't work well enough to track people. But my guess is that only a small fraction of people who visit actually belong to the DC, and Disney would want to track everyone. Unless they assign you some sort of unique number (and you keep that unique number on subsequent visits), how do they know you're you?
Thanks for the info on the new reservation questions. Asking about family members might be part of the Magic program, as would asking if you've stayed at that resort.
The last time I called CRO (in May), the CM I'd spoken to was able to see the last six or so visits I'd made. So at least some of this system seems to be in place and working.
I think the interactive pins Disney is selling are also a prototype to something with this system. I recall reading somewhere (here?) that eventually the pins will have some personal information on them, including who you are and what attractions you've visited that day.
Say, for example, you're on Pooh early in the morning and it goes off-line with you on it. If you ride Country Bears later in the day, one of the bears might turn to you and say something like "Dave, if this show breaks down, we guarantee we're more entertaining than that _other_ bear."
Anyone else know anything?
