I know that there has been construction going on, but does anybody have an idea of what will be the end result??
Thanks!
Thanks!
Right now the powers that be don't know what the end result will be. Though we can probably expect an announcement sometime by the end of september/ beginning of october. The announcement I imagine would invovle not only what will replace the lake-side of the street, but also some 'rule' changes. Guess we'll have to wait and see:animwink:I know that there has been construction going on, but does anybody have an idea of what will be the end result??

Makes a lot of sense. I know a lot of folks are going for New Years Eve @ PI. (I`ll be in EPCOT W/family):sohappy:Believe itor not...they are right on schedule for a completion date of December 20, 2006. The project will include the new pedestrian bridge which will make the west side and Pleasure Island a simple walk without the HUDGE stairs. It also adds a new boat dock for service around downtown disney and
Saratoga Springs. The pavers are all being replaced and the exteriors are all being cleaned up. There will be some new retail outlets as well. It will make Pleasure Island blend into the rest of Downtown Disney. When the project is complete, it will all be open duing the day including the new Raglan Road which I bet will now open for lunch.
Rumor has it that DQ will go away and be replaced by a ESPN Zone. Both brands opened together and spread in Chicago. The Chicago DQ was a flop and they are now growing the ESPN Zones across the country. It would make sense to remove DQ and make it an ESPN Zone.
Sure it's a bit of a mess on the streets... but all clubs remain open during the refurbishment, and despite what the exteriors might look like right now, they are still fun as ever on the inside. So, to clarify, would it be worthwhile visiting Pleasure Island early October time!? I can see it's under pretty heavy-duty refurb but I'd have thought that a percentage of the bars, clubs would still be open...am I wrong!?
I haven't been to PI for, well, thinking about...12 years!! So, now being of legal age to drink and be merry I was hoping to return this year!
What's the word over there guys and gals!?
