What's the future of Mission: SPACE?

I know this is kind of an odd question to ask. Mission: Space is getting a restaurant and had an update somewhat recently, but with the upcoming millennium falcon attraction, this question is becoming more and more relevant. That attraction will do everything mission space does, but better. It just makes the space pavillion's future kind of questionable to me personally. What do you think, is the space pavilion safe? Will it get a bigger update soon? Or do you think it's doomed to be replaced by another space attraction?

It might get a queue upgrade ;), THE one that it was supposed to get last year!

I don't think it is going anywhere, it is a whole different story line. One is science based and the other is a part of a George Lucas empire. there is rooms for both, not to mention that they are in different parks. There are a number of people like me that have zero interest in Sci-fi (aka Star Wars). If I live long enough I will wait until it calms down a little and go because the rides look interesting, but, not enough to stand out in the sun for hours waiting to see.

I don't expect Falcon to deliver the g-forces Mission Space does. Honestly, I know of no other attraction that does what Mission Space does. The ascent is phenomenal. The slingshot around the moon is even better. The descent to Mars is bliss. (Your mileage may vary.)

Its totally safe. Its not only in a separate park but its an entirely different themed item, not even in the same category as a SW attraction. Adding on the space restaurant will bring more attractiveness to the site. There are those of us who are space enthusiasts and there are those who are also SW fans. Both will be thrilled with the multi park themed rides.

I am not a big fan of MS - - - - I am still holding out for an Horizons thrill ride into the future of possibilities:)

I imagine Mission Space will be getting replaced by a quick service and a DVC sales booth.

For those playing at home, I did not say the new sit-down restaurant, so hold your fire. I also said "I imagine". And also, the Magic Kingdom will be getting more alcohol.
That'll increase sales. They'll put you on Orange and not let you off until you agree to buy 160 points...

So...... it won't do the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs?
Do you mean, will the Falcon's navi-computer plot a record-short course? This wouldn't involve speed. The Solo movie did a good job where they invented a scenario that involved both speed and efficiency, but you don't reallly ever see passengers on the falcon blown back in their seats from extreme G-forces due to http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Acceleration_compensator.

Mission Space is a G-Force simulator, which is a unique ride mechanic in all of Disneydom. So, that mechanic isn't being stepped on by any other ride.

As mentioned above, Smugglers Run is on a slow turntable, slower than Carousel of Progress and is not a G-Force ride. It's a better and interactive version of Star Tours, which is the real ride 'in danger' of become obsolete because of SW:SR.

Mission Space also got it's Green Mission updated and better screens. Despite lots of really bad science, M:S isn't meant to be science fiction, but plausible near future space travel. Something which the Space Restaurant will sync with. Totally different than the space opera of any SW ride.

This.

Falcon will not have G force.

Personally, I'd prefer G-Force to Porgs. :D

Unfortunately Green side doesn't have any of this anymore (don't know if Orange keeps the old mission or uses the new Green one too). It's just a trip around the planet now... you know, because there isn't anywhere else in EPCOT to go "around the world" ;)

Orange is exactly the same as it was before the refurb, just with a completely overhauled movie so it doesn't look like a PS2 game anymore.

Had an odd thought today. Why no Mission Red? Am I alone in that if there was a more intense option I'd gladly take it? What is this ride system really capable of?

That’s the thought that came to my mind. If anything looks outdated next to the new Star Wars rides, it’s Star Tours.
