i only ever went on alien encounter once, and it scared the **** out of me.
that is the only reason i haven't tryed stitch yet.
i know i know,"its rubbish, they should never have taken AE out" right,
and i agree, AE ruled! (even if i did have to buy some new shorts after it. .then again i was 7 years old.)

anyway i really want to see why everbody hates stitch but i darent go on it.

i was just wonderin, what exactly is it like,i mean is it exactly the same events and effects as AE only with stitch instead of a huge alien.
what exactly is it like.
and dont be biased, i know most dont like it but all i want is to see why everybody hates it.

The story is OK and the theatre is very similar to AE but when Stitch bounces around and burps chilli dog in your face, that's where I turned against it.

It also helps to see the movie or else you get a little lost on the character cast in the show.

so i take it that there isn't the dripping blood, licking you head and the shoulder restraints pressing down on you effects then

btw i have seen the film so the character problem is solved

It really helps to have seen the Lilo and Stitch movie, but if you've ever seen the tv cartoon, it might be enough.
Alien Encounter struck me as very non-Disney, non family friendly, and definitely creepy when there aren't too many attractions in Tomorrowland to begin with. It struck me as a situation where someone was paid an awful lot of money to create something that certainly wouldn't last for a variety of reasons.
I know Mission to Mars was dated, but it had charm. AE was just nasty in attitude all around.

The whole Stitch thing with the chili dog burp and the saliva is borderline potty humor and I think Disney can easily be above that level as they had been for years.
There's so much going for the whole Disney organization that they don't need to resort to adding bodily fluid/smells/sounds to an attraction at WDW.
Bad enough they sunk to that level in cartoons.

What's next, modifying the Carousel of Progress dialog so that the dad or Cousin Orville let one rip?
.....There's a great big beautiful.aaaaah.. tomorrow, shining at the end of every day, get it? End? Ha ha.:hurl:

I think positive change will be happening soon.

its basically the same show except now you arent afraid that ure gonna get eaten, but instead may get "spit" and stich burps inyour face and its a rather strong smell, but i honestly dont think it smells anything like a burp! they basically made the show silly. same kind of stuff, you feel him moving all around the room, but its dark so you cant see. you should go check it out. i think the reason why so many people dont like it is because it replaced such a great attraction. like if you took splash mountain and took out all the drops. you just have a cute little ride, but no intensity. thats basically the deal with stich's escape.

There used to be dripping blood, and things licking your head in AE?!?!? Now I know why I didn't go on it, or Stitch!

Yes when the alien "eats" the tech up in the catwalk, they use sprays of warm water to feel like blood falling on you. Also there was a little piece of tubing or something that came out of the headrest along with some sound effects that made it feel like his tongue was running thru your hair.

i can't help but be biased, because I don't plan on doing it again. The story is ok, and it is like AE, but the seats are very uncomfortable especially if you are taller, the back the seat rams into your back, and that NASTY smell makes me want to vomit! (cooney dog or something, it was bad!) the lights don't go down all the way, and the wait was not worth it.

I mean you gotta try everything at least once, right? You have to be the judge if you will like something or not. Don't avoid something because it gets bad reviews, because you might like it. So give stich a try, and then you can come back and complain like the rest of us!! :p

The restraints still come down and the lights still go out. He still breaths on your neck and you still get sprayed with water simulating his spit to fool the DNA tracking cannons.
The burp does not smell like a chili dog at all (but you are told it is chili dog), it smells a like a cross of skunk, burp and unwashed bum

I absolutely loved Lilo and Stitch (movie) so I thought the ride was pretty cute. I agree that it isn't as good as Alien Encounter - that just freaked me out the first time I rode it, but Stitch is more for the kids. It really isn't as bad as everyone seems to make it out. I especially love the part when it feels like Stitch is sniffiing you - It really feels like he's right there!!

I liked AE and was disappointed that they took it out. I figured I'd try Stitch though. It was pretty dissapointing that it was so similar to AE. The big turn off for me was the so called chili dog smell. Very very gross! I like to try everything once, but that's one attraction I most likely won't be visiting again!

They may have changed it since I went on it, but what I found most insulting, condescending and flat-out stupid about it were the piped-in voices of children on the ride's soundtrack. THese voices are supposed to sound like voices of chldren experiencing the attraction with you, and the conceit is that THESE kids know what's going on, whereas all you old f@rts in the audience are clueless, CLUELESS, I tells ya!

"Look, Mom, it's Stitch!"
"He's spitting!"
"Tee, hee...he's funny!"
and, worst of all...
"He's cooooool..."

IMHO, when the ride itself has to tell you how funny and cool it is, then it is neither.

I only see Stitch because the preshows are alright and the Stitch AA and the robo-laser guns are awesome. I'll never wait in a line to see it.

The story itself is hideous. It starts off remotely well, but it goes downhill rapidly from there.

Alien Encounter may have been drastically different from anything Disney has ever done before, but it was original, and it had a satisfactory story and conclusion. Stitch is a stupid overlay that uses the same tricks, but it's more of an engine to sell merchandise than to be innovative and entertaining.

I agree. I did this attraction when it first opened, Lilo & Stitch was my favorite movie at the time so I was super excited about this. I had never done AE because I'm a big chicken and was excited that I could experience this attraction but sadly my expectations were let down...

I think that the kids on the ride liked it though my 9 year old cousin wasn't impressed (but he did enjoy the the burping and spiting)

My DS age 9 and I went on in April. He is a huge Stitch fan......and he said it was the worst ride he ever went on.......

I didnt care for it for several reasons: the restraints ended up catching my hair on the way down, and were pretty uncomfortable on my shoulders. That "burp" smell is just the worst......we ended up behind someone later in the night that was eating a turkey leg and I just about lost it with the smell.......

We had FP for it to see it a second time and did not go on again.....will probably never go on again in future visits...

We had been warned......

When I first went on AE, I was scared to death, but I was only like 9 years old, and very scared child to boot. But even though it scared me, I wanted to go on it again and it soon became my favorit attraction WDW. I saw the show maybe about 6 times and had it completely memorized by the end of the trip. When I went to Disney two summers ago with my high school, I was very excited to show my one friend who had never been to WDW before the attraction, and we were very disapointed to see that they had changes it to Stitch, and we ended up skipping it because we both found Lilo and Stitch to be the worst disney movie ever, and Stitch to be the most annoying Disney Character ever created. IMHO AE was the only worth while attraction at MK next to Space Mountain, since it was so different from all the other rides and shows. And know that it is gone whenever I go to WDW I usually skip MK.

I think Disney should stop with all of the stupid stuff with making old, but original rides into the same ride, just with some minor differences!
