What's open at rope drop

In the current, covid, non-magic hour time, what's most likely to be open (or not) at rope drop. While each of us has rides we consider important; like Heimlich's chew chew train, alas no more, what are the big ticket rides that are generally running when the park opens: MK, AK, DHS, Epcot.

Most attractions are open at rope drop on most days with a few that traditionally have later openings, mostly shows like Country Bears and Hall of Presidents. When you arrive at the parks, get a guide map and a times guide which will tell you anything that has operating hours that differ from the park in general. The MDE app will also give you this information.

Every headliner (barring a breakdown) is open at rope drop in every park. Do the sensible thing and focus on those.

If its popular and especially if its fairly new, everyone is racing towards it immediately after CM's allow guests to move past them. Those attractions that were recently built are new to guests who are eager to ride those things that they hadnt gotten to do on their last trips. The first time WDW goers have seen or read about the newest thrill rides and want to experience them too. Getting to the popular rides before crowds build really gives you a great start to your knocking out your park plan.

If you’re at MK with kids, knock out 1 headliner first, for sure, but quickly pivot to the cycle loaders in Fantasyland, which will save you more time overall.

Personally my typical route is SDMT, PPF, BTMRR, Splash, POTC, HM, Pooh, Space, Mermaid in the first couple hours.

Are the disney hotel guests getting in early yet? They had made an announcement earlier this year that would happen...sometime in the future.

From what I understand, they are letting guests in (on-property or not) about 45 mins to an hour before rope drop, depending how long the lines at the gate get. People are able to knock out a couple rides before the park even technically opens. Our plan in a couple weeks is to get there at least an hour and 45 mins before park opening (for DHS, 7:45am) with the hopes that they let us in by 8:15 with the park opening at 9. It all depends on the line to get in though.

Makes sense normally. With COVID drawing out only the hardcore Disney fans, everybody is RDing right now, so by official park opening the waits at the headliners are consistently the longest they will be all day. Beating the crowds now involves zigging when everyone else is zagging.

The trick is just to figure out what that means.
