I tried looking through the pinned posts and couldn't find what I was looking for. Is there a list of what each race event costs?

I'm in the pre-pre-pre-PRE stages of even thinking about running but I need motivation and Disney 5k, 10k, 1/2, full, etc are going to be my motivation (besides getting healthy).

So...what's it cost? Race related costs only - I know how much hotels and food, etc are :)

These things change every year, usually in a upward direction with the increased popularity.

Yikes. That's a bit spendy but hey, it's Disney! I was whining about paying $45 for a 5k back home so I guess $95 for a 10k isn't bad at all.

I'm assuming the prices above only include the race and nothing else? I see people with medals & pins and whatnot and I'm sure those are ALL extra?

The actual includes will vary slightly from race to race, but the prices listed include the finishers medal/medallion and a shirt of some kind. The 5k races are a cotton t-shirt, and a rubber finishers medallion. The 10k races and above are a tech shirt, and a metal finishers medal. Some races will be short sleeve, others will be long. Some races may also have other small stuff, I've gotten shoe laces, buttons (like the Happy Birthday ones), reusable bags, temp tattoos, etc.

Anything outside of that, pins, I Did It shirts, Dooney & Burke, etc etc etc is all sold at the runDisney Merchandise section of the expo and you buy what you like.

Some race registration fees in the past have included park tickets, holiday party tickets, etc, but those fees were higher to cover those costs.

The Tower if Terror 10-miler in October registration includes entrance to the Villans Bash at Hollywood Studios after the race. I think The a Wine and Dine half includes admission to an after party in EPCOT.

The night races do include a "private" party in the parks. You even get a food and beverage voucher after the W&D 1/2. Each race includes the finisher medal (as long as you finish), a race specific tech shirt, and a few other goodies from race sponsors. You also get a discount on park tickets for you and anyone you are traveling with.

Does anyone know how much Wine and Dine cost last year? Trying to figure out how much they are going to raise the price for the Marathon Weekend events.

The 2013 Wine and Dine Half starting entry fee was $175, without tax. I ended up paying $202 and that included tax and a special race pin for my pin collection. The 2014 wine and dine entry fee is $185, before tax. Additional info ... http://www.rundisney.com/wine-and-dine-half-marathon/

There is typically no discount for Marathon weekend in January. The other smaller races do typically offer a pretty solid discount, however as a heads up the tickets are usually non-upgradable, and need to be used within 14 days (either way) of the event date. Shouldn't be an issue, but some people have tried to save them to use on following trips, or upgrade to an AP or something and it won't work.

They out priced me 2 years ago when i basically saw it double.

Same here unfortunately

I agree it's not cheap. Plus add on the cost of hotel, flight & park tickets - HOWEVER - i'm 100+ pounds overweight and I need something...ANYthing to inspire me and get my butt in gear. Run Disney may just do this for me. Gonna start small 5k/10k and work my way up from there.

Thanks everyone for the information :D

Just wanted to give you a first-hand example of the costs.

I signed up for this year's Jingle Jungle 5K and the Wine & Dine Half. I also pre-ordered the commemorative pins.

Total costs were:
$76.10 for the Jingle Jungle 5K
$214.55 for the Wine & Dine Half

The price for registration alone for the 5K was $55...$185 for the half. The rest of the costs came from the pins and Active.com fees (something I don't think has been mentioned here yet). Can't get around paying those Active.com fees, unfortunately. :grumpy:

That's awesome. Good luck with your goals...I think you're really smart to start with shorter races and go up from there. :)

Thank you for the encouragement (I'm gonna need it!) I've started walking and I'm going to go get my feet "mapped" for the correct running shoes. I'm not planning on a RunDisney even until probably 2015 or maybe 2016 but who knows :) thanks again!

Good! It's so, so important to invest in good shoes that are right for your feet!

Look around your local hometown for 5k and 10k's. Im not saying Disney is setting you up for failure, but you can participate in 10 local events for the price of 1 Disney event. You might also find some local people that are trying to achieve the same goal as you and meet some new people. It is easier to reach a goal for some if they have a little person motivation to meet for walk/run groups, and that Disney event that is so expensive that might get pushed back and back due to money. Local events for $20 does the same thing and I would bet you have the same satisfaction since most local events support charities.

Just a thought.
