I read the first three before there was a movie. Apart from the teen angst that messed up one of them, they are good fun books. Anything that encourages readings and the use of imagination - especially something that has to hold a child's attention for longer than five minutes has to be applauded.

I agree. They really are great books. I had watched the first 4 movies and kept putting off the books as I just really did not think I had the time. My wife gave me the first 3 for my birthday this year and wound up reading those plus the next 3 one after the other in a short period of time. I could not help it because they were that good.

I don't see how the 7th book can only be one book as there is so much more to tell. I am hoping the 7th year at Hogwarts will be a trilogy...
