Scenario:
You are planning a trip for 2 Adults and 2 Children. You often stayed on property at a Value Resort and spent 4 days in the parks(park a day) You didn't have to plan everything like you have to now, so you begin planning and find out during your research how much it costs and what offerings are not available...

DO YOU...

A) Continue to plan your vacation no matter what the costs and offerings not available?
B) Start to look at other attractions in Orlando as HOME BASE and VISIT Disney just a few days?
C) Get discouraged about the way Disney has become GREEDY and go to Dollywood?
D) Do not plan another trip to any Disney park until its worth it in regards to offerings?

We picked " D " and we have been going once or twice a year for 10 years, but we don't see the value in it right now

D...not planning another trip until 2025 or 2026 hoping the fireworks and parades and characters are back in full force! if 2025-2026 comes and its the same as it is now, we will cancel for good! and go somewhere else!

Exactly what we did in May this year. We knew going in what we were getting and not getting. We still wanted to go to WDW because despite the missing elements, we knew we would still enjoy the trip. It all comes down to what each person is willing to accept and the enjoyment you have to have to say what its worth to you. Certainly we missed the fireworks, the character interactions and the shows. It took on a very different feel but when the trip ended we were pleased with how it went. We still had all full, joy filled days with attractions and park time... and with less crowded parks.

A. Pretty much will still try to go once a year... though how we visit or choose to experience the bubble may change based on costs and perceived value. For me, Disney World is darn near imbedded in my DNA as I have been visiting off and on since 1972. So those childhood memories and sensations are pretty strong. Regardless of how much the powers that be try to screw it up, we'll probably find a way to keep going.

I was there in July and the lines were LING and the crowds were enormous.

As of today, we selected A for our December trip. Moving forward, probably D as it becomes far less likely we will travel from the west coast to visit again.

Depends on how often you go to Disney. If it were a once-in-a-lifetime or once-in-a-decade trip and those offerings are important to you, I wouldn't go. What is the goal for your vacation?

If it's fireworks, parades, and characters you want, fireworks are back. Parades are already back at Disneyland, I believe. If they can bring back buffets, I have to believe M&Gs will be coming back soon as well. Especially now that Disney employees will be required to be fully vaccinated soon.

There are other cost cutting measures that have been instituted, of course. Just addressing the ones you specifically mentioned.

E) Scrap your WDW plans and look into a Universal Orlando vacation including staying at their resorts.

FOR SURE C OR D and very smart of you to analyze now with all the huge extra costs, restrictions, have to pick parks ahead of time, etc., just way way too much complexity for a supposed magical vacation. Disney had taken the magic out of the equation for sure.
Had 25 years of more simple fun Disney vacations and with all the new restrictions and costs--- time to stop.

A for us, we too are a family of 2 adults, 2 teens...we love disney and have a trip planned for late January and we typically go to WDW and DL each year - we will proceed to WDW but see what this trip is like in terms of what is offered and included in rising cost of everything I'm sure --we wont go the castles for lunch or dinners or actual service restaurants as to us, they have priced themselves way overboard for what you get. We hope the rides and "people watching" which is what we enjoy to do, will provide the same excitement as it always has, but no doubt we have will scale down what we spend there since it seems the Almighty Dollar has consumed Disney.
